Thanks Tanner❤ this video was extremely helpful. When you talked about putting pressure on ourselves, I burst into tears and really howled! I never realized how much pressure and how critical I am of myself until this chronic pain came on. Slowly learning to be kind to myself.

So much of this resonates with me. I really liked that part about control being fear in fancy clothing and about letting go of it to live life. I live in my head all day. Thank you so much for these videos.

The control one you mentioned really hit me - that's my biggest challenge - I really want to control everything - my pain, what I do during the day, my work, and even my kids - it's all very healthy and I'm working on it : ) But you are spot on too about experimenting with different approaches when pain hits - a classic example today - I was working out this morning - I just felt like it even though the previous two days I trained pretty intensely - and about half way through the work out my body sends me strong pain signals which I interpreted was to stop right now. And I did - my pain was gone in minutes - previously I would ignore this pain signal and keep going which was very counterproductive especially what I have been through the last few years dealing with chronic pain. Thanks for sharing these points.

This video is priceless for those of us with chronic pain. I have now realized that my biggest trigger is pushing myself to do too much, too fast, too perfectly. I now try to have a mantra that I tell myself. Slow down. There’s no hurry. Chill out. It really helps settle me down and reduce my chest pressure. Thank you so much!

Tots agree, u r spot on Tanner. 💯💯 Very good stuff, I can identify with all of what you have said and se how doing all these things led to my decades of chronic pain and illness. Its never too late to know this but would have been very helpful for me in my 20's and 30's, but thank goodness stuff like this is out there now more for younger people

Thanks Tanner. You are right on about pain being a sign of something. And I spent a lifetime of pushing myself through the pain so I wouldn’t hear the message. I am slowly figuring out how to take better care of myself and my nervous system. Also by trying to avoid overwhelming myself. Any tips for coregulating your nervous system if you live alone?

Caring friends would be ideal, unfortunately that isn't always the case. A great option is getting a cat. There are no ulterior motives and most cats are very calm. For anyone in this situation a cat is definitely something to look into.

I'm not sure how to let go of control. Can you give personal examples? In other words, how does one not "control" planning or preparing for everyday things (dinners, traveling, appointments, etc)?

Thanks Tanner. I have a question. I totally subscribe to the mind body and neuroplastucity. I just have some concerns. I have had several abdominal surgeries and shortly after my last one 15 years ago, I began having chronic pain. No doctor or therapist has been able to help me much except a PT who treated chronic pelvic pain who found adhesions and trigger points which were painful to touch but after treatment, were reduced and I got relief although temporary. I recently went to a rheumatologist who x rated me and found that I have heavy calcification of my thoracic spine which might be a structural issue causing my lumbar spine to move abstractly and is causing low back pain. Also she found a necrosis of my left femoral head. I went for a follow up to my orthopedist and he is a very open minded doctor. He said he doesn't think I should be too concerned about the femoral head at present but did feel my structural issues might be causing my pain. He also knows of my surgeries and feels it might also be scar tissue and musculature imbalance and also that my brain has amplified my pain by central sensitization. So he believes it's both structural and mental. I try to stay on a mental zone that since I can be pain-free at times that it isn't just structural. But this has cast some doubt that I can rid myself of pain as I might actual have some structural problem that is the root cause. Tanner. I could sure use your input here.

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. I know it can be hard to figure out if pain is neuroplastic, structural, or a mix. Unfortunately I am unable over social media to give advice about a persons case, as I do not know your case fully. There is a directory on the painreprocessingtherapy.com site for doctors, maybe you could find someone in your area!
