The Lakeland Loop motorbike tour in the Lake District England easily goes to my No 1 favourite route.
Taken from the 'Bikers Britain' book, this 155 mile, 4-5 hour ride goes through 6 mountain passes. 'Kirkstone Pass', 'Wrynose Pass', 'Hardknott Pass', 'Whinlatter Pass', 'Newlands Pass' & 'Honister Pass'.
I get to the start of the motorbike ride riding over the 'Hartside Pass' & back again to the b&b after riding clockwise around the 'Lakeland Loop'.
8 mountain passes in one day!
It's a bucket list ride to do for sure! Absolutely awesome.

@@ianaquilina9139 Great thanks for that, I'll make sure I factor in not to have a deadline to keep to so I can relax & enjoy it. I did gather it would be better to go clockwise though? Teapotone & another guy recommended that way as on the West coast you'd be on the left lane looking out to sea. But I guess the reason to go anti-clockwise is that the trip can end on a high on the west coast as opposed to the not so pretty east coast & that boring road that goes south? 🤔

Re the B&B, it was just the otherside of the Alston & the Hartside Pass. As u seen in the vid. So not far from Penrith where I started the loop. The b&b was ok, the room although I was the only one there is shared, so a single bed & a bunkbed. If I went again I'd perhaps look at stopping in Alston itself as there's all the local shops & pubs in walking distance.
@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips

Sorry Lochwood, just seen this extra question re the B&B, there was no heating just a plug in heater in the lounge bit. So if it's cold, be prepared for that as it's quite exposed on a hillside. But the kitchen was big with a double gas cooker, beds were a bunk bed and a single. the host was very nice & asked if i needed any bits of food whilst i was there. All in all cheap & cheerful, only needed it for that as most the time i was enjoying the passes :)

Obviously it's going to depend ones riding experiences, I've been back riding the GS1250 3 years now, the whole route is relatively easy I'd say all except for the Hardknott, but even that I'd say wasn't that bad. Someone mentioned to me it was harder anti-clockwise so I went back & did the route that way but I didn't fine the Hardknott any more difficult. There are just a couple of tight hairpin bends on a steep gradient 33% & it's difficult to see if any vehicles are coming down from the opposite direction. Once you ascend that section of the Hard knott I stopped & paused at the beginning of that steep section. Have a good look. Afterwards I thought it wasn't at all that bad? Let me know how you get on. Here is the Lakeland Loop gpx file route (8) ; calimoto.com/calimotour/lakeland-loop-cumbria-1-r-TTbwU21U9n

FYI Sadly the first edition only has the Ambleside Loop though you've given me plenty to go on. Not sure what a mukka is though.

Hi Nick, I use 3 camera's. 1. Dj Pocket 2 with a 128gb micro card. 2. GoPro 8 Black with a 128gb micro card. 3. GoPro 9 Black 128gb Extreme Pro card. Are you embarking on recording stuff yourself? The kit is all very costly then a bit of a pain to edit but worth it at the point of post (if it's good of course ; & on that, I'm still learning as you may tell from my vid's lol).
