I was once told by an American - who had never seen another country, I might add, that it was a "well known fact" that the US was the best country on earth. He was trying to convince me that I would be better off there, with no health coverage, and the lowest wages in the western world. I had responded that I was very happy here and that Australia is a nice country, hence his "well known fact" statement. I had been to the US - mostly New York City, but also to Long Island, where he lived. Although I was impressed with the famous places, the streets were filthy, you couldn't use a public toilet anywhere, and there were beggars and desperately unwell homeless people everywhere. I was also surrounded by well-meaning Americans telling me what they knew about my country and arguing with me if I explained the reality. I wanted to kiss the tarmac when we landed at Brisbane airport. LOL

Thankyou so much for posting this video. Dad came from Yorkshire in the 1930s, married mum and lived here till he passed. I've been lucky enough to visit pommyland many times, a wonderful country. If people are accepting of differences like you two are then the new country that one chooses to live in can be "your home". It can be very difficult to adjust to a new environment but we've all done it for our family. With reference to the dolphins, you said the kids were at "nippers" without explaining what "nippers" is, how Aussie are you two. Take care and stay safe.

Honestly, I'm always surprised by how much migrants to Australia love our beaches. I grew up here so to me, it's normal and I'm not much of a beach person. And in regards to volunteering, Australians volunteer more than any other nation. I lived in the UK for a few years and loved it (Greggs!!) really missed the cafe/bistro/food culture Australia has. And it's so common to stay in shape and exercise here. In the UK, after work you'd go for a pint. In Australia, you play a team sport or go to the beach. I always laugh when non-Aussies move here and are amazed we have council provided BBQ's. It's normal to us :)

Hi. Liking the videos. Such a nice family. A suggestion for a future video. When living in Spain some years ago, everything seemed fine, but I remember at one point sitting down and thinking to myself- this is it. How long will it be before I return to Australia? Did I make the correct decision? For a moment I had this real sense of dread. But then life went on and all was good. Maybe you could reflect on the move for you as a family and what strategies you have put in place to cope with the uprooting of your family and moving to the other side of the world.

@@TheBAMFamalam Yes well I had a choice when we came out here and one was to live in Queensland or NSW and in the end, came back to NSW and tried out some self-sufficiency style living (not recommended unless you know what you are doing and have a fair bit of financial backup) and it fell by the wayside but at least I live now on my own on five acres in a small town and just appreciate getting away from the rat race of the big urban areas.

My man this country loves skilled immigrants. As an electrician you would earn more here than an oil baron in the middle east, and we are always DESPERATELY needing more nurses, there's always positions available. I reckon your little'uns would love it here aswell. I grew up here in the 90s and I sincerely couldn't envision a better upbringing. . . Hanging with the kids in the street, making tree houses at the park, catching minnows and yabbies at the creek behind the park. . . Good times. Internet is really shit here tho. . . Always comes as a surprise to most foreigners, so just keep that in mind lol

My great great great grandfather got a free trip from Ireland (Cork) to Australia (Sydney, New South Wales) in 1818 as a reward for stealing a cow. Are they charging for tickets now? Welcome you mob. Australia has inherited a lot from the UK, but it is also the home of the oldest continuous culture on the planet. Find the local traditional owners and say hello. They know the truth about this place.
