Nice job. Short and to the point. A couple of thoughts: I think I may have discovered something that helps regarding villager homes (farmers) and the Farm Shed location. If you build a firepit (stone campfire with benches around it) next to the Farm Shed, the Farmers will gather there prior to the start of the workday, and thus have just a couple of steps to get to work. Seems smart at least. I personally am a big fan of the 10x6 field. Interestingly, I've recently kept track of tool durability, and a Simple Bag (hand-crafted with 3 leather) will last for... wait for it... 60 farm tiles (10x6 field). However, a wooden hoe will only last for 54. So a 9x6 field may be a smart way to start, at least until you up the durability of farm tools with the Careful Farmer skill. For folks new to the game, make sure to either loot and sell stuff, or craft enough Stone Knives to not just get to 960 coins (the price of a Large Pouch and Simple Large Backpack at Denica or Branica (no reason to risk the trip to Hornica on Day 1 or 2), but enough to buy the Fertilizer and Flax Seed for 60 tiles (or more, or 30 or so Cabbage) to plant in Spring of Year 1. Seriously... Get it DONE. 60 tiles (10x6 field) of Flax will yield 357 Flax, which once threshed on the Barn floor will give you 357 Flax Seeds and 357 Flax Stalks (enough for 35 Linen Thread in the Sewing Hut). I would then hold 120 Flax Seeds to double the production in year 2 and sell the balance to support other operations for the village. You could sell the Flax Stalks as well if you haven't unlocked the Sewing Hut yet... but then again you're losing out on some Crafting points and the ability to make something like Flat Straw Hats or Bows and sell for more Coins. The Cabbage you harvest going into Summer of Year 1 will be great to combine with Meat to make Pottage (3 meat + 2 Cabbage + 1 Wooden Bowl = 1 Pottage = 30 coins). Your villagers will LOVE Pottage (it's #26 on the People's Demand Control list) and it's cheap and easy early-game. Plus you can make it at the Cauldron in your house if you want to wait to build the Kitchen (just unlock the recipe once you get the Kitchen and it'll come Day 1 if you craft enough Stone Knives). Speaking of People's Demand, I'm really starting to look at simplifying what I grow. Carrots seem pretty useless. You can make Stew with them, but pottage is better, and you get Cabbage in Summer and Autumn with single growing seasons. If you're going to do 2-season crops, do Beetroot and combine with Meat to make Soup (#24 on the Demand list - 4 Beetroot + 3 Meat = 1 wooden Bowl = 1 Soup. But it sells for the same amount of Pottage so maybe just go with Cabbage.) Onions are fine but it's best to use them in Flat Bread with Onions after you've unlocked Kitchen II. To support this effort you'll need Flour from Wheat, Rye, or Oats. Wheat has 2 options but throws things off. You can plant in Spring and harvest in Autumn (then plant Rye that harvests in Spring), but if you plant Winter Wheat in Autumn it won't harvest until Summer - so in that case could be paired with Cabbage in a single field. So be mindful of that. Otherwise go with Oats in Spring and Rye in Autumn in the same field. Poppy is also good to grow in increasing batches to craft Potions of Weight (requires 5 Poppy Seed, 5 Henbane, 1 bucket of water, and 1 Wooden Vial) which is helpful in clearing caves early on. Okay, sorry, that was more than just a couple of thoughts. But it's all about helping new folks out. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work!

I agree about field size. In the past I had massive fields but noticed that some of my workers stayed in the field sheds because there was no task for them. As you say there are four possible tasks available reaping ,fertilizing, hoeing and seeding and each task can be done by only one worker per field at a time. I now have fields 16 by 3 and that works well.

If you have half your fields dedicated to cabbage in Summer -> Autumn, composting said cabbage is almost enough to get all the fertilizer you need the entire year until the next patch of cabbage comes in, though admittedly I plant 2.5 crops per year (half the field in a 3-crop-rotation, the other half a 2-crop-rotation).

Great vid man, I do 10x10 fields too ;) Also, early game I like getting rot from berries - every berry bush you pick also give survival skill exp, there are several useful skills in that tree imo (Strong as an Oak and Solid as a Rock). Take care man.

Also , the pigs are a game changer, low cost and big pay off , the amount you'll be saving on fertilizer will definitely make up for the animal feed

While berry rot is a good very early move to getting rot, I find that cabbage makes a great bridge between berries and when you get your pigs up and running. Since you can grow it in 2 seasons you can stockpile it pretty easily, you'll have enough to feed your villagers potage while having plenty leftover for rot. I like to drop a large rectangular wicker basket next to the fertilizer table in the barn as a rot drop box.

Compost bins are better as the food turns in one season regardless of how fresh it is. Before pigs I put four or five bins around my barn and fill with green berries , mushrooms and food scraps.

Having smaller fields is probably the best tip in here because the game doesn't really explain this in any way. Having a bunch if 16x16 fields, or twice as many 16x8 fields can be the difference between your farmers taking 5 days to finish their work or just 3 days.
@SirJayWalker

It definitely is one of the best tips I would recommend!

sorry if i missed the answer to this question somewhere but, do taxes rise based on the amount of fields and/or the size of them?

Taxes rise based on # of buildings, # of farming plots per field, and the development level of the city.
