In this video we will answer Question 7 from the March 2022 Level 3 Multiple Choice Exam. The question is: What is the diameter of a conductor with a cross sectional area of 6 mm squared?
All the information in this question, both the Exam and the Answer Sheet is readily available on the City and Guilds Website so no answers are being given away, just past answers being explained.
These videos are aimed at learners studying electricity on any course and will help those studying the City and Guilds 2365, 5357 Apprenticeship, 7202 and 8202 courses, the EAL Diploma in Electrical Installation and also any course involving electrical science, physics and maths.

There's an alternative method. For the area you can also use A = r² x Pi. So if you got the area you can divide it by Pi, squareroot of that will give you the radius. Multiply that with 2 and you'll get the diameter (d = 2 x r). I use that way because it's easier to remember, at school we were taught this way to calculate the area of a circle back then and it got stuck. And sometimes there are several ways to Rome. These modern calculators are amazing! And it also remembers me on my final examination when I was an apprentice. In the invitation the IHK board of examiners claimed that I had to bring a calculator that "does not require mains power". That made me lough hardly back then, because that was in 2002, and mains powered calculators weren't even back then a thing anymore for 20 years or so...

Hi Joe. Following your videos for the last couple of months & they are brilliant! I done my electrical app. 35 years ago & were not explained any formula only learn them off & do it! I wish that I had an electrical science tutor like you at the time! Can you do a video on capacitor start & run calculations on motors & one on generators( floating neutral or earthed) Thanks MG.

Hello Joe, I really much appreciate the great job you're doing. I do have a question that has bothered me for a while. Could you please explain for me the difference between AC wire and DC wire if it does exist?
