Often in the process of recording these songs I get a new found appreciation for tracks that perhaps have never been particularly near the top of my favourites list. 9-9 is one of those - on the surface a jumpy, noisy interlude between the sing-along tracks of Sitting Still and Shaking Through. But break it apart and you really start to understand what an artful noise it is, with some intricate picking from Peter, and a swampy, slidey bass from Mike. Even the timing in the track is odd in places - the intro bassline riff changes almost imperceptibly, and almost certainly I've added my own rhythmic chaos to it as well. I'd like to say it was done as a tribute to the track but I'd be lying. On most other songs I'd record the rhythm guitar and vocal part first, but here the bassline went first, with the lead guitar parts.
Enjoy!
