The point of the Spiderman bit was that that is what Peter believed cool guys were like, and Venom, not knowing any better, amplified that belief and compelled Peter to act like that.

I sometimes wonder from the negative comments about the scene that some viewers haven't noticed the other characters' reactions to his behavior; they ain't ecstatic. The whole thing was supposed to be cringeworthy!

Yeah. There are a lot of things wrong with that movie but when you actually think about it, that part is really not one of them. People just refuse to see past that he looks and acts cringy to notice that that is the point.

The thing is that Parker carrying the symbiote is not supposed to make a fool of himself. It´s more in the realm of coming close and even considering murder than just losing inhibitions. The 90s Animated Series did it well without getting unnecessarily graphic so the movie could have done it well too.... but they played a really messed up conflict in the lead character's mind just for laughs. Still, not the only problem with that movie...

Yeah that’s what I was thinking also. He’s a nerd so he thinks that’s what cool guys do. But you can see everyone he walks by reaction that it’s cringey that’s the point.

Maybe I’m to “artsy” yet I was blown away by the pie scene. My empathy for the character that obsessively ate a pie to cover her internal turmoil. I personally have done this with food, others may down a bottle of whiskey, or find another way to stuff the pain of losing a loved one. But eating an entire pie isn’t a bad scene coming from a movie that has a ghost in a sheet.

I agree. I was on a weight loss kick for a couple of months, then I got the phone call that my grandmother passed away. I honestly went out and bought a jumble berry pie, came home and ate the whole thing while crying. So I think if someone like me has done that, the writer or Director has also known someone else who has done that…or perhaps they themselves did it.

The playground fight was actually a pretty good fight scene in the comic between Daredevil and Echo not Electra, the scene was suppose to be the differences between a blind man fighting a deaf woman. It was forced into the movie and took all the meaning behind it making it soulless and just awkward to watch
@benmcfee

I’ll put a vote in for the entire climax of _A Cure for Wellness._ I’ve said it before but I’ll restate it here: the first two thirds of that movie were utter magic, and it looked like an institutional mystery to rival classics like _Shutter Island._ And then in the final third, as we’re supposed to be getting a reveal to the great mystery (which sadly was easy as hell to guess) the tone shifts dramatically from sinister, dark paranoia, to an awkward, incestuous _Phantom of the Opera _ vibe that, while predictable, feels completely out of place with the rest of the movie. It’s sad because the film wasn’t just good before that, it was bordering on greatness, which almost makes its faceplate worse.

as trinaq says, the stripper's death in both VERY BAD THINGS and ROUGH NIGHT was the point of the whole movie. The playground fight in DAREDEVIL did have a point, in that if they'd fought anywhere else, the police would probably been involved; it was also far less stupid that the beginning of BATMAN BEGINS, when Bruce Wayne could beat up everyone in the Chinese prison.

In defense of the spider-dance, it's exactly the kind of thing you'd expect from a total nerd who suddenly thinks he's cool. It's supposed to be cringey. That's far from the worst part of the movie, but it is one of the best clues that everyone involved was trying to pack too much into too little time. Too many new characters, too many plot threads, and too many villains

I'm going to argue with the last pick. The symbiote enhances and magnifies the personality of the host. Eddie Brock is a violent monster, so when he gets the symbiote, he becomes Venom. Peter Parker is a dork. When he gets the symbiote, he becomes Super Dork. It absolutely works.

It literally doesn't explain WHY any of the scenes are "misjudged".... It explains that the scenes are hated and they potentially ruined movies.... For these scenes to be "misjudged", there needs to be a *reason* the scene was included in the movie. Chris Pratt being a ragdoll, for instance, during a very serious, visually striking and eventually heartbreaking scene... has NO storyline reason. It just ruined the whole moment for NO reason.... That means it's NOT misjudged. It's judged FAIRLY. Edit: Also, these movies would be horrible with or without these scenes! So to claim these brief scenes ruined the movies to begin with is off base.

Every goddamn time they destroy immersion by having characters do non-stop quips and/or make it a comedy during combat or other danger like having those wolf monsters keep landing on Gimli when they die so the actor can do ouchie-face again. When these directors destroy immersion like that, they NEED to do it with comedy that is so high quality that most of us laugh out loud. They don't seem to understand that they are making all-or-nothing gambles when they do that, and usually go with buffoonery of the kind some adults incorrectly believe young audiences respond well to.

I’d argue some of these are fine, but one of the cringiest scenes I’ve…uh….seen…recently…was from the Flash movie where he’s catching falling babies when a hospital collapses. It was so bad. I mean…the movie itself is terrible, but *that* scene was toward the beginning and really let ya know this roller coaster only goes one direction…and it ain’t up… Also, the Martha scene in BvS is the cringiest scene of any superhero film. And Mr Fantastic would take on Venom Peter Parker in a dance off any day. Nobody remembers the Fantastic 4 bachelor party? lol

I'm going to defend the Peter Parker dancing stuff from Spider-Man 3. It's supposed to be cringy. It's supposed to be what Peter Parker, a nerdy kid who has never been cool, thinks a cool person is. The Mummy got ruined by bringing in Tom Cruise so that the story is now more about him and less about the mummy who was supposed to be getting a reboot in a new universe. Jurassic World I feel it's a bit much to say it ruined the movie. Yea, its a bit odd but it's also common in many movies to do something similar when temporary paralyzing agents have been used. Jurassic Park 3 I'm just tired of everyone bringing up this moment. It's a 5 second segment of him having a nightmare. Yes, it's ridiculous but nightmare often can be. The Santa Clause 2 I feel was perfect. It was a toy. They kept him looking like a toy. If you think he was that creepy how are you able to watch horror movies? It's silly. Spider-Man 3, that scene was one of the movies redeeming qualities. He's a super nerd and geek who just got super cocky and egotistical. That was one of the nerdiest dances ever shown on film or TV. Anyone questioning it makes me wonder how cool they think they would look if all of a sudden all your doubts not only vanished but flipped to make you super cocky.

What the hell? Did you just call Evanescence bland music??! And it makes the scene dated? Guess what Amy Lee wasn't dated when Daredevil came out. That is a terrible script writer whoever wrote that. Hang your head in shame. I can't condone you're slander of Daredevil anymore....and of course we talk about Spiderman 3. But has yet nobody come to the conclusion that since Peter Parker is such a dork and a weirdo that what he's doing in that scene would be what Peter Parker would think was cool so it's cringey on purpose because that's what he thinks the Ladies Man and what a cool person would be like? That's what the character thinks so Tobey Maguire played it that way. What the hell? I thought that was the simplest thing to conclude....🤷🏾‍♂️
