My traffic stopped when I stopped ads so I ended up putting them back on, I tried without for four months. As soon as they went back on I got an order, so I’m reluctant to put them off even tho I’m not making much as I want to continue to grow. 🌸

Ads work for me as well. Oddly, when I start feeling a slump in sales I will turn off ads for a day and then restart and boom, sales pick up again. It takes time to figure out how to get things to work for your niche.
@KaraBuntin

Sometimes that's the only way to get seen because the niche is so competitive, or your keywords aren't the same as what Etsy is showing you for primarily.

Thank you for these tips. I refused to follow the "popular designs" cause my argument is the initial trend setter is the seller who's making the real money. I rather want to try and be the trendsetter, the problem is I only got two sales so far, but you set my mind at ease. I'm entering my third month now, but are dedicated and focused on the long term so I'll just keep designing and trying out new designs etc. I think my thumbnails etc. have really improved over the last couple of weeks, so I see this as "training" for the long run. Thank you for you videos!!

For me it sounds really strange. It's obviously that to sell something you need to produce something or at least buy something (if you're not a drop-shipper). To start any business you need a starting capital. Enen to make a digital stuff you still need to buy a computer, apps, get some courses, right? It's just too obvious things to mention.
@KaraBuntin
@KaraBuntin Жыл бұрын
@@fox__fox Nobody mentions it though, and I there are a ton of "make money from your phone" type videos all over social media. It's just taking advantage of people's desperation in some cases, and laziness in others. Then there's the mentality of the gig economy where everything is disposable and short-term, so a lot of people don't think about building anything sustainable, it's all churn and burn.

everything is so true!! Kara here's a thought, I realize that some or maybe all shoppers look for sellers that have high scores or higher selling rates, I am guilty of that as well...they forget about those that are starting out, and no stars at all, so they get skipped over! I have been on here for over a year, good traffic, bad traffic..hahah like a roller coaster, now I work my ass off trying to create the best, always changing my pictures, changing my titles, etc, at times I have very high traffic, and like today it dropped way down..haha so if only Etsy can also come up with an Idea to push us non star raters, we may stand a chance. Any Idea? btw I love your honesty, I will not give up, because someone out is looking for the perfect baby dress, and I can deliver...I believe in me, and I know that I will succeed, maybe not today, but it will happen!! 😂

I always look for new sellers to buy from...Etsy does (sort of) show newer shops a little at the beginning, but unless you start selling that grace period will end pretty quickly.

Something that helped was to tell my friends and some of my family, don’t pressure them, but if you sell lower cost goods like myself they might support you and even leave a review! At least that’s what I think helped me at first 😅 But also I think if you sell something unique, but also something people really want they’ll buy it. My shop has been stagnant mainly due to me putting my efforts elsewhere, but last evening I got my first massive sale for notebooks I have with a solar system design I created a while back. I’m assuming it may have been a teacher because they ordered 8 notebooks! I was so shocked normally my stickers sell, but that was my biggest order yet and it came at the right time too. Just keep faith that things will happen at the right place and right time, you just need the right buyer! I was worried my notebooks wouldn’t sell because of the cost and the speed to ship because they’re POD, but they’ve been a hit lately. I’m planning to buy them through a manufacturer eventually so I can ship them myself and promote them a little better, but for now it was something I wanted to try without having stock sitting around. A huge part of it is marketing too and if you get traffic people are interested, but it might not be the right time for them to buy whatever w looking at yet.

I am a total introvert and I REALLY dislike the chit chat of social media. For my cake business I post to Instagram and Facebook but I don't spend any time there at all, so if that's not your thing you don't have to do that. You can get good results from blogging, a youtube channel where you don't show your face (it's possible, and you can edit everything so that you feel okay with it) and Pinterest if you do that the right way. SEO is always important and that involves no human interaction, which is just the way I like it, heh heh

@@KaraBuntin Or maybe a link to a site where you can just order muffins! When I was in Divinity school, one year we had a Christmas recipe exchange, in which everyone brought in their favorite homemade Christmas treat and set it out with the recipe printed up on index cards next to it, so we could all go around sampling each others' treats and picking up the recipe of anything we liked. Well, several of us spent five or ten minutes standing around debating what the ingredients might be in the delicious, complicated confection brought by Brother Henry, the school librarian, and marveling that he had this hidden talent as a baker none of us had known about. After a while, we gave up on guessing and looked at the recipe card to see what the ingredients were. There was no ingredient list, just the directions to Brother Henry's favorite bakery, complete with a first line instructing the reader to fasten their safety belt, or else "the entire dessert could be a failure."

She would check everyday but nope she couldn’t leave it. Well it’s February 10th and still cannot! I have a screenshot that shows what she sees. The arbitary nature of them holding your funds is so irritating. I have two shops, one is 10 years old the other is 3 and the younger one recently had a hold put on a fund simply because I sold a higher priced item even though I've sold lots through that shop before. But they gave me that money and held the money from my next sale instead which was much smaller. Meh.

You just have to be able to pay the credit card bill to the printer, so it would depend on how much you sell. If you get lucky and start selling things right away, then if Etsy puts a 90-day hold on your money, they're supposed to pay it out bit by bit but sometimes they don't.

I’m still working on my Etsy shop. I put it off for a while. Okay, okay, for a long time. Then I finally put in the actual time to learn about how Etsy works. I started with the seller handbook. And that’s when I realized that I had wasted my time listening to those “gurus,” who mainly push how to make “passive income” or recycle the same topics in different videos so they can continue to push their affiliate marketing links or whatever. Something about it always felt off to me, which is what pushed me to learn on my own. Then I also realized that I was making it more difficult than it is, not that it’s easy. I was just being pessimistic and focusing on the wrong things. Also, what held me back was allowing myself to be freaked out by those people who complain about their shops being shut down for “no reason.” I later came to learn that there IS a reason. And people are liars. So basically, now that I’m working on my shop through a new lens of perspective, I do my own research and I watch Kara’s videos because she doesn’t give BS advice. The rest is all noise. I’ve set my goals. And yeah, external forces are at play. But ultimately, whether I succeed or fail, comes down to me.
