I thought so too, until I noticed that he seemed to be carrying it around a little too easily, as if it was pretty lightweight. Gold bars would only make sense if it was depicted as being really heavy.

Very true, i didn't take that into account! Knowing Tarantino he probably didn't know what was in the briefcase himself! Probably just wanted to create a random mysterious aura behind it to mess with us lol. As a director i'd probably do the same, it'd be fun to see what crazy theories people fabricate haha!

+Thomas Torrissen The idea was to leave it mysterious and bright and shiny so that it could represent whatever the person viewing it or whatever the person watching the movie wanted it to be. One guy looks at it and it could be gold, maybe for the next guy it's plutonium, who knows. Originally it was going to be diamonds but that seemed bland. Band-aid thing's already been delved into, Ving Rhames cut himself shaving and Tarantino thought it looked cool. Things are rarely as deep and mysterious as people make them out to be.
@Mr16thPrestige
@Mr16thPrestige 8 жыл бұрын
Reaves MO I know what the band-aid actually was for, but I thought I'd mention it because some people to have that theory. I might also mention that I pretty much hate the way people constantly look for a deeper meaning that isn't there. Some stories do have a deeper meaning but a lot don't. The way we in school were forced to analyze short stories and songs for a lot of bullshit that was never intended by the author. (side note: South Park did a wonderful episode on this subject: "The tale of scrotie McBoogerballs". I highly recomend it)

The maker of this video had the time to say "It came, as much of Tarantino's work, from another source, this time a Sonny Chiba film, "The Bodyguard" (1976)." It would have taken as much time and been more useful in a "things you did not know" video than "eh, Tarantino made it up, I guess."

Another fact on Travolta: Quentin was originally considering him for "From Dusk Till Dawn," and originally wanted Michael Madsen in "Pulp Fiction." When Madsen wasn't available, and since Travolta wasn't much of a vampire fan, Quentin changed up parts of the script and gave Travolta the role that would be Vincent Vega.

That was the prevalent theory until Kill Bill pt2 came out and ruined that theory by revealing Budd wasn't as careless as he wanted people to think. Rewatching the two films, I came to realize that Kill Bill is really about wannabe ninjas, who actually never achieve nearly as high accolades as they think they did. They are nowhere near the masters they portray themselves as being. And Budd, out of all of them, manages to be the most ninja-like, as he is the only one who can move unseen, the only one that can blend in and take others by surprise. Because he made the others believe he had given up. The others? They knew as soon as they saw each other, but Budd? He could walk right up to their faces and they didn't react at all.

- The diner manager is listed in the credits as just "Coffee Shop", since his line is "I'm am just a coffee shop-" before getting interrupted. - When Vincent buys the heroine from Lance, Lance is out of balloons and asks if a baggie is alright. Common drug practice is you store your heroine in balloons, and cocaine in baggies. This is why a seasoned druggy like Mia ODs. She finds the baggie and assumes it's coke, her drug of choice, rather than heroine.

ExclusiveFOETV according to Roger Avary, the co-writer of the Pulp Fiction script, the briefcase was full of Diamonds. They changed it because diamonds were the MacGuffin in Tarantino's earlier movie, so they decided to just _not_ show them, since they couldn't come up with anything better.

A great film for this series would be Casino. Here's an example tidbit. Smoking characters is difficult to film for continuity because the cigarette burns fast so the ash will jump around between shots. Since DeNiro's character smokes almost continuously this would be a major issue except that DeNiro actually holds the cigarette so that the distance between his finger and the ash is always the same, a clever trick that creates seamless continuity.

You mentioned that the quote Jules says isn't from the bible but Tarantino didn't come up with it, it's from the opening of the American release of a 70's martial arts film staring Sonny Chiba called the Karate Kiba, known in the states as the Bodyguard. You can find the film, it's trailer, and the quote itself right here on KZfaq. Tarantino would later work with Sonny China in Kill Bill, Chiba played Hatario Hanzo. You guys might want to dig just a little deeper when looking for trivia

I get that the case is supposed to be "Whatever you want", but other than the glow, to me the one 'clue' to what it could be, is the way that Vincent stares hypnotized at it, saying "Is this what I think it is? It's...beautiful", to the point where Jules has to yell at him a few times to snap him out of it. I always thought it was some kind of high-end super dangerous weapon, like a nuclear device, something you know exists but have never actually seen in person and held in your hands...

Rodrik the Reader That's a bit rude, and not really true at all. Lots of parents assume that children should learn to grow up early and know about things in life so that they don't get affected by a lack of knowledge in the future. In the same way, other people like to shelter their children in an effort to let them learn about things throughout their whole life. Either way, it isn't necessarily 'degenerative' like you say it is. I recently watched the movie for the first time, and I'm 14. Maybe your parents should have taught you some manners, they seem to have not done a very good job.

GT Dusty how can people still think it's marsellus's soul? they always give the example of the band aid on his neck being where it was taken from but the band aid was the actor's thing not the characters thing.. all of what this video says is under the trivia of imdb. but why would it be marcellus' soul? that idea is dumb. the briefcase simple serves as a macguffin.. it doesn't matter what's in it, it drives most of the plot. and that s why tarrantino says it can be whatever the view wants i guess.. cause it's nothing.
