What do you call 8 ads for Combos in a single commercial break? FULL OF IT! See why Combos taste better? (90s music fill) Yeah I probably watched this the same night in '93 but I can't believe how many Combos ads we had here. I wish the mustard ones were still around!

Ah June of 1993. I was finishing my year in kindergarten. The fact that )as well as these ads being on TV) completely baffles me. I sadly never discovered Nick at that time but YTV, Global TV’s Kids TV and TVO were the go-to stations for us kids in Canada.

At least these wrestling figures were made by Hasbro instead of a certain company that doubled as a publisher for video games. No rainbow stamp of doom needed. Just the company who has pretty much dominated the toy industry to this day.

Apparently, everything in the 90s was “wacky”. (Kool-Aid, Water toys, etc.)

Of the many reasons Last Action Hero failed, I think it’s advertising was confusing. The commercial here is trying to be whimsical, while others emphasized the action and violence, while others the comedy. I think people got confused. At least with Jurassic Park, you knew you were in for a thrill ride.

It's common for marketing campaigns for blockbuster films to tailor different ads for different target demos, but in the case of "Last Action Hero" the tone of the movie itself was all over the place and a common criticism is that it seemed to have no idea what its intended target audience actually was.

@@80sCommercialVault How did Last Action Hero do with video rentals?
@80sCommercialVault

I don't know if there's actually a reference for that. This article from 1994 doesn't place it in the top 10 rentals or sales for that year: www.upi.com/Archives/1994/12/29/Billboards-year-end-ranking-of-the-top-video-sales-and-rentals-between-Dec-4-1993-and-Nov-26-1994/2631788677200/

Froot Loops- I’ve seen ads like this where they claim the cereal colors are brighter. I don’t remember seeing a difference in the colors of the cereal after opening the boxes back in the day. Roundhouse End Credits- After hearing the voiceover promo advertising the Call In Contest, I wonder just how long kids were willing to keep trying to get through to the contest after getting lots of busy signals and possibly running up their parents’ phone bill in the process.

This is my favorite one. I remember every commercial and it took me back to when things were much better for me in life. SNICK was amazing then I would sneak and watch Tales from the Crypt with my older cousins.

10-K-This actually tasted like watered-down Powerade Balzac-St.Jacques King Of The Ring-r.i.p Scott Hall & Bam Bam Bigelow Household Hazardous Waste Collection -absolutely no smoking allowed on the premises..oh and The Toxic Avenger will be there for autograph signings! Salute Your Shorts-Disney Channel would do their own version of SYS decades later with Bunk'd McDonald's-it was all fun and games until they found something they weren't supposed to find.. 😱
