Turbo S 0-62 : 3.2 V12 V S 0-62 : 3.9 "It's a touch slower" In my book, 0.7 seconds is a massive difference on a 0-62.

I bought a 2007 Vantage a little while ago for reasons that have nothing to do with it being the fastest or most technically developed vehicle under Heaven. I bought it because it was beautiful and unique, the (relatively) modern incarnation of the Triumph Tr8s I owned as a much younger man, tailor made to the desires of (what I like to think of as!) a mature 55 year old gentleman. It is a car I am in love with, and although love is a personal preference, it is a term I could never use when describing a Porsche.

Aww, c'mon... I love the Aston but you can't put it up against the 911! We all know the Aston doesn't stack up on the track. What's the point? I'd always take the Aston over a Porsche, but I'd never take up a challenge of any kind. The Aston is best suited running across continents in beautiful at your own pace wishing your were James Bond, they don't need the validation of trying to set the fastest lap times. They're not track cars.

Aston Martin loses EVERY comparison they take part of, even against much cheaper rivals. The 911 is the perfect car. It is technically up to date, which the Aston just isn't (look at that navigation system!!), it is fastest around the track, it got four seats if you have to pick up more than one colleague of yours for a trip to the bar, the maintenance is cheaper, it got much better reliability, etc. etc. BUT I'd still go for the Aston. That's not a rational decision, I'd just would like to have something special for that money. Who cares if it is slower on the track or from the line of the traffic lights? You buy an Aston to enjoy your ride, especially in a roadster.

Who cares about track time within the inner city limits. The Aston oozes beauty!

To be honest I was surprised the Aston did so well. The Turbo S is 200kg lighter and has more torque. Maybe the Turbo would be a closer match on the track, although it would be cheaper.

I'd have the Aston any day. The thing just looks fantastic especially considering how old it is at this point. I think we all knew the Porsche would take the win here, but what surprised me was how small the gap was. I would have guessed half a second at least.

911 being 4wd I expected it to hammer the Aston! Well Done Aston Martin... however - which would I choose considering I own a Cayenne, I'd have the Aston Martin every time, ask me that question 10 or 20 years ago, you'd get the same answer!

Vicky doesnt seem herself in this shoot-out, like restraind she even spun the Aston. she seemed nervous with the 911. The old vicki wouldve really had the 911 2 seconds quicker if she was brave like before.

Considering the dangerous Porsche with its lethal pendulum effect engine [slung out behind the rear axle] and 4WD to hopefully reign it in, it speaks volumes that the Aston was only one quarter of a second slower.

Funny how in motortrend(on streets of willow) laptimes Panamera Turbo is 2.2s faster than V12 Vantage S, but here its almost neck and neck with Turbo S.

Porsche makes more 911s in a year than Vantages ever made. This alone is enough to make the Vantage more desirable.

Both Mercedes and Porsche make GT3 cars and both raced in the Le Mans. Using last years model in GT Am was the Aston V8 they did place 7 place 7th while Porsches finished 3rd and Fifth with out of all Amateurs the Aston got best lap time. In the GT Pro Aston beat Porsche but the Porsche looked like it had some mechanical problems, but the Aston got the better time. It's either just a coincidence with better drivers or these two cars aren't two different. Personally I'd take the Benz or the Bentley, I don't care much for Aston or Porsche.

It does not stop at 198 mph, it's an understatement from Porsche. Many people are led to believe it stops at 198, herd it in many reviews before but it's just wrong. Don't know the exact top speed but it's quite a bit over 198.

It probably wouldn't matter anyways but the wet track favored the AWD Porsche.

I'm more worried about the amount of time both of these will be on a flatbed, rather than a track. My brother had a Porsche, and it was the biggest piece of unreliable cra@p I've ever seen. And Porsche UK ... those people really don't give a cr@p if you've just spent £100,000+ with them! As for Aston, my boss had one; Month 1 - 16 days at the dealer being fixed Month 2 - 15 days Month 3 - 18 days at the dealer being fixed ... there wasn't a Month 4!

There's nothing special about a porsche no matter how fast it is. Isn't that what you buy those cars for- to be special?? The Aston is the complete car, the sound, looks, the exclusivity AND it's still very fast! People who say they shouldn't be making cars are idiots, Aston still have the best brake and steering feel in its class plus they've won the coolest brand of the year many a time. The hate on Aston needs to stop.

The turbo s cab is 2.6...... I used to be a lot tech at a Porsche dealer so I got to drive pretty much every model. And I hate when these car journalist say bull shit lies. There obviously getting payed to make the other car to look good. Granted I'm not as nearly good as of driver they are but I still know how they feel.

Haven't you hear how that guy from the series, Fast ad Furious died, Paul Walker? He died in a Porsche. It is a proven fact the Porsche's tires are to thin to be make a left turn at a 100 degree angle at 25 mph. Aston, however can make a 100 degree turn at 25 mph. Dumbasses, Aston Martin is way better. Oh, and also Porsche's strength sucks. He went in flames when he hit that pole guys.
