Glavine was the only one who actually won a clinching World Series game for the Braves. Look it up, their ONLY championship during their 90's reign was this one. Maddux couldn't close it out, but Glavine could. Maddux was a playoff choker, typical of the Cubs who brought him up. Glavine like Smoltz actually could perform in clinching games. In 1991 had Smith scored on Pendleton's double, Pena's 9th would have won the championship for the Braves over the Twins, thanks to Smoltz's masterpiece in Game 7. Glavine was just as dominant in 1995's Game 6.

I looked it up like you said and Maddux had a lower ERA for his World Series appearances than both Glavine and Smoltz. From 1993-1999 Maddux's post season ERA was 2.29. His World Series ERA was 2.08. In terms of their absolute worst pitched playoff games in the 90's Smoltz and Glavine both had worse games than Maddux's worst. Even better guess what Maddux's regular season ERA was during the same period? 2.32. So apparently pitching even BETTER in playoffs than in the regular season with a ridiculous 2.29 ERA plus having the best World Series ERA means you are a "playoff choker" lol.

Smoltz was the best playoff pitcher of the three. He was an October assassin. In the 1991 NLCS, 1991 WS, and 1992 NLCS, he got the ball in Game 7 of all three of those series and gave up a total of two runs in something like 24 innings.

Yup. With the special about the 90's braves on MLB network tomorrow, I was doing some reading and came across this article. You pretty much nailed it. That was the ongoing theme. What's worse is that they had all those titles in the bag but then choked. There was an absolutely mind blowing stat in 96 where they were down 3-1 to the Cardinals in the NLCS and rifled off 5 straight games by a combined score of 48-2, giving them a 2-0 lead vs. the Yankees after finishing off the Cards. How do you not win the WS after being that dominant? It was crazy. Here's the article: www.sportingnews.com/mlb/list/braves-world-series-losses-postseason-collapses-failures-1996-yankees-twins-blue-jays-phillies-marlins-eric-gregg/6jfr6crlbyhv15jv5wfxv5qww/slide/1

Funny, I'm a Braves Fan and saw Zell Miller in attendance, The only One of 2 Democrats I would have ever voted for. Good Man, GREAT TEAM.

300勝的投手站在投手丘上的氣勢,那控球是分毫不差的,捕手要哪個位置就進哪個位置,現在的投手也很難達到這樣的水準……

Prime Smoltz, Maddux, Glavine versus 41 year old Dennis Martinez, 37 year old Orel Hershiser, and Charles Nagy. No way Indians are going to win the WS. If the Indians had a legit top 5 pitcher ace, Indians would have won 2 WS titles in 95 and 97.

That Braves strike zone 2 feet off each corner couldn't hit the ball with a broomstick. ** on all brave pitchers.

true that. Mets fan nightmare, but it was a team effort that two weeks collapse. If anything, he could have used this kind of performance in game 5 of the 2006 NLCS

Back when batters actually chased off speed away. Belle or Thome would never sniff batting over .200 in today’s game.

Well they don’t give everyone a foot off some manipulation of the umpire isn’t a crime. They made the ump want to call strikes and used their control pitcher reputation

That was the zone during about a 5-6 year period of time. As long as you nailed the mitt and it was within a couple inches you got the call
