1999 and 1997 are his best to me! People talk about posing routines, this is what posing is. Flex, Lee Labrada, Mohamed Makawy, Bob Paris, etc are some of the great poser of the past.

Trouble is his points have always been about Shawn Ray inc and for his brand. One of the Most Complete & Aesthetic physiques of all time. The most Consistent guy from the 90s, Never been out of Top 5 at the Olympia. People hate Shawn because he speaks his mind & tell it like it is (the Truth). But imo he's one of the Smartest Bodybuilders along with Yates.

It's amazing how all these guys remember exact dates and places, and what placing the athletes got in each contest, from 20-30 years ago. I can barely remember names of people I worked with 5 years ago lol.

Met Shawn maybe 92 or 93 on the sidelines at Lambeau field. Remember it was a cold december game. Kept looking and thought thats got to be Shawn but was hard to tell all bundled up. Went over and said hello and he seemed genuinly appreciative i recognized him.

There was a time when I never liked Shawn Ray. I smiled every time I'd watch the Olympia in the 90's when he'd lose. But, as time went on, I actually grew to appreciate Shawn. I would read his articles and listen to him talk, and the man was/is right about a lot that he's talked about. And then the appreciation of his physique grew. Shawn had one of the best physiques ever, and in my eyes it's a physique which was deserving of at least one Olympia title. Shawn Ray is one of the greatest bodybuilders ever and on top of that a great ambassador for the sport. Awesome episode!

So glad you got this on the record. Shawn Ray has given back so much to this sport and it should never be overshadowed. I was one of the lucky recipients of his advice having broken bread with the man. I didn’t go far with competitive Bodybuilding but I live a good life because I didn’t chase the dragon and always held his business and life experience in high esteem. He is one of the few that looked to bring up those that wanted to accomplish something in the sport. But he never told you what you WANTED to hear but what you NEEDED to hear.

Sugar Shawn Ray's a great interview! He got an opinion he's pretty inflexible (assertive self belief). He kept my interest from start to finish. A timespan Id usually start to yawn & go elsewhere. Nice one Jay & team. 💯

This was AWESOME! Shawn Ray has always been one of my favorite bodybuilders. I know a lot of people don't care much for what he has to say, but I've always enjoyed listening to him because he's a straight shooter. First of all guys I’ve watched every podcast and love you guys and the interviews but this one with Shawn Ray is got to be #1 or at least top 3 of all your podcast! What Shawn Ray has done will NEVER be done in this sport if getting top 5 in Mr O for 12 years! Shawn Ray is given a bad rap. He gives his honest opinion, made smart business moves , gives props to the legends that bright him up and gives solid advice to younger guys. One of the best guest ever on this show. You have to bring him back with Lee Labrada

Best podcast so far. I always liked Shawn. Amazing physique. No BS, no filter, tells it like it is and says what many are thinking out loud. Now we just need Levrone on the Cutler Cast. I always thought the best business minds in terms of success in the industry were Shawn, Levrone and Jay. All 3 still going strong in the industry to this day and they are in their early to late 50s. Very interesting to get insight and how you all pulled from each other and different people. This could have been 5 hours and I would have happily listened to it all. Great job to all 3 of you guys!

I’ve been following bodybuilding since the early 90s & am a history buff Til this day, Shawn Ray is one of my Top 3 Muscular Most Aesthetically pleasing physique of ALL time My Top 3: 1) Bob Paris 2) Frances Benfatto 3) Shawn Ray No one before or since has broken that Top 3 in my eyes Oh … and I love how Shawn speaks his mind and doesn’t hold back the Truth Thank you for the memories Cheers from Sydney, Australia!

Shawn and I are the same age, and I've been a huge fan of his since the mid 80's. I remember videotaping an episode of American Muscle Magazine on ESPN when they covered his victory in The '87 National Championships. That posing routine to Jennifer Holidays , And I AM Telling You, Was Nothing Short of Incredible. Not only was he a Great Competitor; He's Also Educated, Articulate, and a Great Businessman. The people who don't like Shawn have the same problem that many others have who hate The Truth. This guy is a True Class Act, and He's Always been about his business On and Off the stage, and I Still Remain A Fan of His. Great Interview, Jay 👍🏾 *

Probably one of the best episodes yet. Some might not like Shawn Ray (i personally do), but you need a voice like his to shake things up. He's so right about having the hard conversations. You'll never get a satisfactory solution if you only appease one side of the aisle. That applies to just about every facet of life. Amazing episode. Needs to be on more.
