Know it's a 12 year old video, but just wanted to say, you got this exhaust right. No other 5.0 explorer I've heard comes close, and you really nailed the lovely "5.0" sound

@heyitsshelio man yo mountaineer sounds too good!!!i have a 99 explorer xlt 4wd with the 4.0 and all the videos I seen of mines with the flowmaster 40 series on them don’t sound like yours so I guess if I had a v8 I would get the v8 muscle sound???? If I can’t get mines to sound like yours I will just stick with stock exhaust because flomasters 40 on a v6 like mines suck less someone proves me wrong

yes thats all, also the resonator was removed. i no longer own this vehicle though

How did you get your check engine light off when you removed the cats ? custom tune ? if so how much for the tune ? very interested

The secondary cats were the only ones I removed. The primary's are still there since they are monitored.

secondary cats aren't monitored ? I am new to this, just got a 98 5.0 mountaineer. Is their anyone that does custom tuning to the pcm at all ? i mean you would think since its the mustang motor that everything that goes on a mustang would go on this motor.

pontiachotshot jet 15003 is a pcm tuner for the mountaineer with the 5.0 . I know im all late and wrong . but i just purchased one myself

RogueMachines17 the exhaust shop I went to welded it on. Any exhaust shop should have it. It’s a universal muffler

Thx for replying..... shop installed Magnaflow rumble muffler (flowmaster original 40 knock off) and it's bad around 2000-2200rpms at highway speed, going back soon to have them swap in a Super 40 in place. Also I have my rear cats removed and resonator deleted... love the 5.0 explorers.

Fuck that i got my exhaust for my 5.0 for free, you just cut out the cats/muffler, get little l-shaped exhaust pipes and name that sucker towards the ground
