Good video, I same car my distributor n roter got stuck n metal over heated the metal is bonded, any advice, in taking out taking to machine shop , I thought I had wrong roter but auto zone had same one that cam from honda. Good luck on your project.

I pulled off my cap today and noticed oil in the cap too. Cranks but doesn’t start anymore. Going to change the distributor.

The thing you refer to as a button it actually called the rotor.

She’s running just takes a few times to get it started and stay running but it died on me while driving the other day luckily it ended starting back up

thats good. my car does this exact thing but is a 2007 and i have ignition coils. and i dont know what would be the problem i have no codes when i run the scanner. someone that can help me point in the right direction..?

Thank you for watching my video. Let's get to it. Which one out of the triangle you don't have, I know you have air, how about fuel? You can check the fuel line or spray starter fluid or break cleaner in the air intake manifold then try to start the car; if it run for a split second than shut off it's a fuel problem, check filter, relay, and fuel pump. If it is spark; check your ignition coils(swap cylinder 1 with any other cylinder coils), distributor, and spark plugs and coil wires. Let me know what you got after these checks. Happy hunting.

My car shut off on me while I was driving & I got a code for crankshaft position sensor it has spark in the spark plugs but won’t start I have the same accord & engine I need help finding the locating to replace it

The Crank position sensor is behind the harmonic balancer pulley (the bottom pulley that drives all the other belts). remove the center nut and take it off, and remove the protective plastic cover. Near the bottom pulley for the timing belt is where you'll find the crank position sensor(left or right side of the pulley). trace the wire to the connector and unplug it. It is held in place by one 10mm bolt. Side note: rent a harmonic balancer removal tool from Auto Zone or any where you can, you will need a big ratchet wrench or breaker bar.

Mine cranks but wouldnt start. No codes.. The green key light on dash was flashing ... thats the security system indicator. After disconnecting the battery for 20mins it reset and car fired right up.! Only lasted a few days, went to start car...same thing. Repeat the battery process, starts again. Tried reprogramming the key..didn't help. I'm told that I probably need the transponder ring, which is around the ignition cylinder ( where the key goes in) as it is not consistently reading the key chip and therfore stops the fuel pump from sending fuel? Befor trying this, I'm going to pop the distributor and have a look. Thanks for the suggestion.

My 1999 accord will crank but not start. It also will not allow me to shift out of park. Put screw driver in release and shifted into neutral. Will not start in neutral. Break lights are working.

Please what can make my Honda Accord 1999 model not start once, i have to start it 3 to 4 time before it respond, i have change the complete injector, fuel pump, fuel filter and and also new battery, but the same problem still occur, i need your help on how to solve the problem some time i have to start it from engine starter before it works

Does it turn over, but hard to start? Try letting it prime: turn the key to on and leave it for a few seconds than try starting it. If I'm understanding you correctly, you have to try starting it 4 times before it starts. After changing all those parts, the only things i can think of is the fuel regulator, and the MFI RELAY; under the steering column, sometimes it's called main fuel relay. Check KZfaq for replacing it. Let me know if that helped.

There is a distributor, but the coil is external. The coil is connected to the center of the distributor cap. I have seen Hondas with coil packs, but I'm not sure what year honda switched from distributor to coil packs.

I have the same car. Cant get it to start. Ive replaced fuel pump, spark plugs, new battery, new distributor, new fuses, new distributor, has spark, getting fuel. Not sure where to go from here? I have a video on my page of my problem

The car sound very different, has though it's hard to turn over. Double check distributor wires and the button for tightness. Also check main fuel relay (MFI) under steering column kick panel. It's missing 1 out of the 3. Spray carburetor cleaner in the air intake manifold, if it act like it wants to start, then it's fuel you're not get. What happened for it to stop working?

Pull out the main relay, Check for some tiny cracks in the soldering points in the back. You can either get a hot soldering iron and get those soldering material reflow on each point or buy a new main relay. Some car parts stores also call them ignition relay.

@@buggzp9887 i will go back and check the distributor wires. What button am i checking for tightness? I did buy a new main relay and still had the same issue. So long story short one day the serpentine belt snapped and caused the other belt to snap or they both snapped together and of course i replaced those. Drove fine that day and part of the next day. Wife pulled away from a red light and said she lost all power and rolled it into a parking lot. Hasnt started since.

@@heavyw8517 spray starter fuild or break cleaner in the air intake manifold, if it act like it wants to start than check fuel system. When you take off the distributor cap there's the piece that turn when you crank up the car, that piece is the button. Check the button for oil, burn, tightness and make sure it is not bent. Do you get a code? Does the Check engine light stay on?

You try keeping you foot on the gas to see if it stay running, does it start every time, how long has it been giving you problem? Check distributor, throttle position sensor, vacuum leaks near throttle body.

Same here I can’t get it to start , I drove it to work and before I tried starting it it would hesitate and the same day I tried leaving and it wouldn’t start it cranks and won’t start , I check the coils and it’s not getting spark
