This is literally the only video covering the 6 cylinder Honda distributor ❤

By Far this man gives the best ways to to 1. rewire the Honda V6 distributor if the sequence is wrong or lost. 2. Note position of #1 wire is below ,not above the right side distributor cap part extension. 3. The firing sequence he explains is fantastic. Thank you. When removing a distributor ,,, get finger nail polish in 2 different colors> >>BEFORE REMOVING

Thank you so much for this video! Not only was I able to (just this afternoon) replace my distributor in my 1998 V6 Accord and save 400 bucks that the shop wanted, I also got to spend quality time with my dad while we replaced it! Really appreciate how clear and precise your videos are!

Thanks for watching. I just finished doing both head gaskets on this car. It's a bear of a job. Several of my mechanics who work on my cars said I did a good job and that some rookie mechanics wouldn't tackle this vehicle. High praise coming from them. I only made one small mistake-left one bolt out and developed an oil leak. I had left it on another table and not on my bench which had everything systematically taken apart.

Can I pick your brain for a minute? My 99 accord 3.0 v6 started stalling after the engine warms up, sometimes I make it to where I'm going but even if i do it wont re-start until the engine cools down, research suggested it was a main relay but nope that didn't fix it, so I put a new fuel pump in still no fix - any ideas? Car has 257k miles

Wow, I gotta give you props! That's a SUPER tough job, probably the toughest of all on these cars. I have the early signs of a blown head gasket and consider myself quite technically competent, but there's no way I'm going to try it. At this point I'm hoping some quick HD seal will fix it and get me another few months, or just part it out completely.

Hi Tom, do you know why the timing shifted? I'm trying to install a new distributor on a 98 Honda Accord V6 EX and noticed the rotor was positioned at 12 O'clock (close to piston #5 based on the marking of the distributor cover). Also is this procedure the same for my 98 Accord v6? I think it is, but I wanted to double check.? Great video!

Interesting about the timing shifting. Is your distributor adjustable? Mine was not. At any point did you take off the distributor and put it back on? When you look at the bottom of the rotor in my video, there are two bosses that stick out on the rotor. Since they are 180 degrees apart, it can make a difference depending on which side they end up on.

Hey tom. You got a service manual? So many sensors.

the seal and the o-ring can be changed I got the same car
@duncanpaisley52905 жыл бұрын
Are you saying that the outer o-ring and the seal inside can both be replaced without replacing the whole distributor?
@chasedouglas73584 жыл бұрын
Will this be the same steps for a 1998 ex accord?
@TOM2RN4 жыл бұрын
Chase Douglas I believe it would be the same.

Hi TOM2RN My son has the exact same car the other night i was driving it and We live in Bitter Cold Southwest Wisconsin and it just quit at the stop sign of course it was -10 below zero and i tried to start the car i had to barely touch the gas pedal and it started but spit and sputtered and then quit running. Now it wont even start any ideas that could help me fix the car. it has fire
@TOM2RN5 жыл бұрын
Wow. 10 below. Makes me think a fuel issue if it sputtered and spit. Can you check for any codes? Is the check engine light on? I would start by checking fuel pressure.

hey bro i have a similar problem with mine i know im 5 years too late but did you ever figure out the problem?
@idealivangaming43077 ай бұрын
❤i can't seem to get the timing right. You set the 5th cylinder top dead center. Is this along with the rotor on the 5th contact.
@TOM2RN7 ай бұрын
I set cylinder 1 to top dead center.
@idealivangaming43077 ай бұрын
@@TOM2RN does the rotor need to be pointing to position 1 as well
@TOM2RN7 ай бұрын
@@idealivangaming4307 Yes. The tabs should fit the slots.

I have the same engine because I have a sedan. It would have helped me more if you would have shown how you took the distributor out of the engine. Your explanations are great. However, to see it done would have helped out better. Sorry for the dislike, overall decent vidieo

Can you link me to the tool set?

No particular tool set. Harbor Freight, Home Depot, or Lowe’s has what you need.

Where is the explanation of how to remove the part, and how to install the part. Great , how you show side by side , of old and new but, show how us how you remove the part and then how you installed the new part.

Good point. Only 2 bolts, but you're right. Alas, I can't go back and add that part in an edit. My daughter had an accident in it and the car didn't survive. It could have been repaired, but the cost was greater than the value. I really liked that little car.
