I’ve only been getting into Miles Davis and jazz in general for less than 2 yrs, but I think this was his true genius. An undisputed master of the old school, he wasn’t afraid to move ahead with the new. While the great majority of his contemporaries had nothing but lambast for the youths’ innovations, disgusted at how their precious art form was getting mangled, Miles saw the merit in what they were doing and embraced it. And both he and they were the better for it.

Simply one of the most extraordinary piece of music ever recorded live. Young Dave Holland plays the fundamental role (did he know ?) of gluing all the loose parts into a brilliant performance that broke all the (then) known parameters of jazz-rock & fusion.

Love it at 33:57 when those two guys turn their heads in disbelief when Miles walks of the stage and the rest of the band still freaking out! Then at 35:04 Miles returns to check out the crowd - you can almost hear him say 'Damn - I knew I was right!' Whoever has remastered and cleaned up the sound has done a fantastic job on this.

Dayum. This still sends chills up my spine. Call it Anything is a correct title for this jam. Miles not only was a great jazz musician, he was a great musician period. Bitches Brew not only influenced jazz, but rock as well. In fact, it played a huge role in the development of funk as well.

This particular band that MD assembled is at their peak. Those 1970 Fillmore East & West recordings culminated here to transfix the Eurohippies. "Live-Evil" recorded four months later... MD's evolution was rampant.

Well, this HAS to be next level when Guy Buttery is here watching! It’s too unbelievable just how inspirational Miles and his generation continue to be to those who followed. I watch this in sheer wonder and as a reminder that I’ve lived in the same time as some of the most extraordinary giants of our time. Life is indeed interesting. P.S. Love your music, Mr Buttery!
