9mm Makarov and 9mm Luger are very different rounds. While "a 9mm bullet will blow the lung out of the body" (Joe Biden), 9mm Makarov is significantly less impressive. Let's look closely at the differences.

@@8mmmauserman just regular s&b usually as I am unfamiliar with any milsurp specialty ammunition or hollow points. I do know my girlfriends father carries it in .380 with ranger talons.

There were .380 barrels out there for a few yrs for the makarovs, but you have to press them in. I'm old enough to remember buying the makarovs for 89 bucks and my cz52 for 139 lol

There are plenty of 380 Maks out there. Feg made many models in 380. Not to mention the original Mak, the Walther PPK

Excellent vid. To be slightly ironic, I wonder if for accuracy and felt recoil, an HP Yeet Cannon 9x19 would be more of an apples to apples comparison: nearly identical barrel length, both fixed-barrel and blowback operated. Course it’s harder to find a friend with a Yeet Cannon.

Agreed. I’d really like to test this, and for $150 I think I could afford it for the memes if nothing else. Was talking to a friend about doing a dollar store Roland Special with one.

@@8mmmauserman haha yeah a lot of potential there. The crazy thing is now that I looked it up, they even weigh the same… with the CZ and YC apparently being within one ounce of each other. Although the distribution is very different I’d imagine.

One other option to compare the two calibers is using a Grand Power LP9M with its 5.2" barrel in 9mm Makarov. If you did not already know about it, now you do, haha! As a 9 Mak fan, I bought an LP9M and it genuinely exceeded my expectations (this is pretty rare for me). If you want to get really creative, shoot some 95 grain 9x18 and compare it to some 9x19 95 grain ammo (you must be a reloader, yes?). And correct me if I am wrong, I believe when I first subscribed to your channel, you called it 9mm Makarov Man, am I right?

@@8mmmauserman 🇦🇺😎👍No mate. The only people who could have them are collectors as they are too short for club use. Only full size guns are allowed. About 20 or so years ago an Asian student took a small pistol and shot some people so the government banned them . Everything eventually gets banned down here. Some people call it the nanny state.. That’s so true !

I don’t think it’s inherently better or worse, but yeah it’s not so common today.

Polygonal rifling reduces friction, and increases velocity. Hammer forged, Polygonal barrels are much more expensive, and people like to be able to shoot lead safely through their pistols. So the Polygonal rifling is not as common as it once was.
