Fear Nigel, I know that your talking about the A-20 in the video, but I need to talk about the Pontos USS Enterprise kit. As you would say it's complete crap. Knowing how you operate I can discuss this at length. The reason I can discuss this at length is I used to live in Oshkosh WI. Getting to it. I used to be part of the local chapter of IPMS, during a hiatus from going, my chapter was contacted by the ESA museum to build a large memorial model of some naval aviation project. So our club president Pat Hawley got into contact with IS Naval Aviation Museum to see if they had a project they could help with, so they came up with a plan to make a 1/72 scale USS Enterprise model CV6. They built a mold for a fibreglass, resin, and wood waterline model. Two of which were cast. I've seen the pictures of Pat standing on the hull, when it was stretched between two saw horses. One resides in each of the afore mentioned museums. So, about a year and a half later is when I enter this story. I had rejoined my group for it's usual Tuesday night meeting, and had already went and seen the model in display. While visiting I happened to go to the gift shop and bought a copy of Steven Ewing's book, USS Enterprise: The Most Decorated Ship in the US Navy. In it I saw some inconsistencies between the photos in the book and the model seeing as I knew some of the guys in the build group, I asked questions. Allen Ross told me about his contacts from his Navy days and his contacts from his time building models for a certain US intelligence service. If his name means anything he's the original author of USS Intrepid and USS Kids books for the original Anatomy of a Ships books series when the US Naval Academy Press owned them. So, the problems with the Pontos kit are that they probably sent a documentation crew to Oshkosh thinking that the model was correct it's not. When I tried to get my IPMS group to correct it U was told sorry we're d like to, but $. Fear not the other model was corrected, unfortunately both models are incorrect for the period of 1942 in fact they are both correct for the Marianias or Battle of the Philippine Sea. So, by now you must be wondering is there a lot that is correct, a resounding close is a good starting point. The KA kit is really good from what I've seen. The only problem it has is that it gets the ratio of 20mm & 50 cal backward they send you forty 20mms guns & four 50 cal mgs. It should be the other way around. The reason I know this is because, in Steven Tzersbach's book US Navy Aircraft Carriers the symbol for 50 cal mgs is + the symbol for is a crucifix, both being cruciforms. I have other data, but I'd be already gone long.

Nigel, think your brass option is the best.

Another issue with Ali’s fix is that when you marry up the wheel well with the cockpit the cap of the resin tube prevents the cockpit from sitting flush on top of the wheel well bay.

The cost of this kit it should have been sorted before it was sold.
