A 428: Last Month in Steam - July 2023 (HD)

10 ай бұрынJuly 2023, marked an emotional & special time for North Canterbury's Weka Pass Railway, being the last month of steam locomotive A 428 in operation, prior to an upcoming major overhaul. Having been first restored by WPR volunteers in August 1993, the 114 year old engine has done 30 years of service in preservation for the railway! This 30 minute presentation takes a look at A 428's last days in operation for the time being, during the course of July.
Sunday 2nd July: Public Running (not covered in this video).
Saturday 15th July: Mid-Winter Night Train Special.
Sunday 16th July: Public Running.
Saturday 29th July: Mixed Train Photographer's Special.
Sunday 30th July: Final Public Train & WPR Members & Friends Special.
Following the expiry of its boiler ticket on July 31st 2023, the Weka Pass Railway needs your help & support to afford the expensive costs to return A 428 to steam. Great Video, I remember the weka pass railway, in fact i remember the crossing at Waikari still being open in the late 80's early 90's thanks for sharing

Hope it returns soon last rode her in 2016 and the first was when 608 was there you can see me in one of the clips of the public train on the Saturday

I've never been to the Weka Pass but I would love to go there but now we lost a great steam loco! see you back in 2033! A 428 was a great steam loco

its an estimate, i heard its overhaul will last 10 years if not im not sure
