Roaming The Outback

Roaming The Outback

Күн бұрын

Goodedulla National Park, located around 80km drive West of Rockhampton Queensland, is a former cattle station. It's a great park to get away for a weekender and explore the hilly tracks and waterways.
During a 7 day trip, I explore all the highlights, in this video visiting Palms Waterhole campground, 20 Mile Hut and an old Bedford truck.

Amazing wildlife photography! You seem to really be able to get into the essence of Australia in a way that others don’t. The way it’s portrayed on other channels it seems just barren and empty, but the way you portray it, it seems full of life! Such wonderful creatures. And great landscapes and history!

The truck is an old friend, think it's mentioned elsewhere, but I can confirm it is a Bedford QL. I even know the chassis contract number. There was a piece of blue/grey mat on the driver's seat.

Glad I found your channel! Love your wildlife narration, really enjoyed the cut from enjoying your noodles to the commentary on the red-tailed black cockies @ 14:00 -- you've got a good pace going in your videos, giving great practical tips as you travel but then settling in and covering the beauty you find in each place. Your wildlife narration is beautiful and I hope you keep it up, I can hear how deeply you care for the native fauna you find how much you want us viewers to feel the awe and reverence you feel when you're out there on a solo trip. I can see when you've used the Z6 and the quality of the shots you've taken as well as the skills you're developing in colour grading etc- the shot of the dragonfly landing @ 17:55 is testament to your skills as a videographer. That shot through the mesh of your tent just prior is great as well, being able to shoot that without moire patterns/interference shows your skill behind the camera. Love how you keep everything still, frame your shots thoughtfully and turn the resulting video into a meditation on the Australian bush. Looking forward to the next one!

Hi Brett, I really enjoyed this one. I like the new direction in your video storytelling, using your videography skills to give the feel of a place. Of course the overlanding will always be a component but it seems that you are now trying to create your own personal image of the places you visit. I like it. There is a subtleness to it as you try to capture the place as it is. Well done. I await the next one.

Hi watch one of your video's on how you can keep travelling. It right under your nose. Other channels have a common thing people relate too. Kid, cat, dog, and vehicle, you got one. It's you. But look in. Like, write a book, or audiobook, or set-up a sign when camping. Lure making course or photography animal course.

The air filter cover looked like a red 6 holden unit and the studs on the rocker cover and the oil breather/filler cap resemble the cover of a holden grey motor, so yeah, you are probably right about it being a Blitz.

I think you're right Michael. The grab handles and window glass matches. The previous wreck parts I found in part 1 were from a Bedford, and appear to be the front part of the radiator and wheel arches. And the interior dash matches this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nr2PismWsarSn3k.html

@@RoamingTheOutback I checked out images of the motor of the Bedford BLT and they look just like the one you showed us Brett. I think the air filter shroud is out of a holden - so perhaps a conversion from oil fillted filter to paper element at some point in its life.

He was a Qld DPI scientist and fish expert. 2) The other fish looked like Silver Perch - Bidyanus bidyanus. Maybe also a Golden Perch (yellow belly) Macquaria ambigua. 3) That tank strainer needs a rock or brick in it to stop animals lifting it up. Or screw down with a couple of stainless screws. 4) Here's my guess on the truck - Chev Blitz, Comma or Scammel. I'm leaning towards Comma. I don't really know. I might be miles off. I think it highly unlikely any Yowie could survive, other than in some of the remoter parts of Tasmania, and maybe WA or NT. For a viable population to exist there would need to be sufficient numbers to stop inbreeding, and I can't imagine that being the case.
