This probably wont save You, But... When the time comes that your complex is being so heavily Bombed that all you are able to do is produce 1 or maybe 2 units after repairs (Generally with Russia) then I choose to not repair for 1 turn. This means that the Bombers can only do Very little (If Any) Damage the Following turn And then with a Double income you can build more units every other round then you could if you tried to build every round ;)

Would be interesting to see this strategy again in a more competitive game, as you mentioned!

It may interest you to know that Cow (the #2 allied player) plays a mean green skies strategy, starting with a carrier and 2 bombers at first and then from there using the natural US navy and predominantly bombers he absolutely wrecked me with it! The only guy above him uses a more typical Atlantic fleet strat. Honestly after Cows performance I think green skies is more viable than KJF

One cheeky strategy I’d really like to see tried out is bombardment strafing. UK and maybe USA build big stacks of cruisers. Each turn they attack Berlin with 1 sacrificial infantry and then get free hits with no chance of return fire. If the game drags on longer than 10 rounds or so it would start to get very profitable.

Always been a fan, I've not tried this variant, bombing strategies certainly can be effective, especially the Classic 1984 1st edition with heavy bombers rolling 3 dice instead of 1, my long range German heavy bombers definitely have won a few games, 2 of these over every capitol, every turn...3 dice times 6 bombers is like 18 dice times $3.5/dice removed from the allied cause.each turn. Buying 1 or 2 each turn, you will also need them for land support in the east. Without the heavy bomber technology, the victory margin will be much reduced but still effectively impacting the German economy significantly. Aerial interception combat is essential for play balance, 6 German fighters in Berlin average 2 interception combat hits, after the anti aircraft inflicts it's damages, the attacker is out over $30 before bombs away, not an every turn battle for long. 9 German fighters is 3 interception hits + AA fire. Some rules have escorting fighters hitting on a 1, others hitting on a 2 or 1 same as interceptor fighters. Anti air rules can vary also, but if the only battle is ever between the aa gun and the attacking bombers, I feel cheated. .(unless it's me with 3 dice heavy bombers). I recall the capitol can be bombed for all the $$ but any non capital factory can only be bombed up to the property's value in $$.

You could try it with ground units/transports from the UK and bombers from the US and see what happens.
