The target they were aiming at. The achievement they were striving for. The result that they wanted. The gist and the drift that they wanted you to catch and clearly you did! Remarkable.

What's sad is how so many are deceived into thinking all of life, consciousness, intelligence and more are just a "cosmic accident" that all ends when we die. This life here can be just the beginning of the eternal life God offers in the person of Jesus Christ (or in judgment for a lifetime of sinning against God and refusing His offer to forgive and forget). I implore people to re-read the gospels and forget what anyone or any church or any religion has claimed they say, with a sincere desire to full consider what Jesus did and said while He was here. Gospel of John would be a good place to start. John 3 : 16-21 *_"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved [exposed]. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."_*

John Nash didn't really deliver this speech in real life, but in my opinion it doesn't matter. The speech is supposed to drive home the fact that even the most troubled people mental illnesses can accomplish incredible things. He found humility, and became humble. And then, the most incredible thing happened to him when he got this award. Seeing his eyes as people stood up and applauded for him was amazing - You could see in his eyes that it was no longer a matter of being a genius, but instead conquering personal demons and tribulation.

Yep. John Nash recovered from "schizophrenia" without drugs. The movie lied. www.madinamerica.com/2015/05/reflections-on-a-beautiful-mind/ neuroleptics ("anti psychotics") used to be referred to as "chemical lobotomies." They've been proven to shrink the brain and destroy grey matter in animal studies. People are dying 25 years earlier on these drugs. There is no improvement quality of life and no real cure of the symptoms.

I feel much better knowing I'm not the only person that can't watch this film without crying. It's impossible. The revelation that half the people he cares about don't exist, then his struggles to continue his work while medicated, then the people at Princeton that mock him, then his delusions coming back in full force.... That's all so much. But then we get to the "this is real" scene... the pen scene... finally this. How? How the hell do you make it out of this film without a single tear? How do you survive past all of that? I've seen thousands of films, and this one manages to strike a chord with me unlike many. A number of films make me emotional. This one makes me a mess.

One of my all times favorite movies and love stories based on real life. This movie shows how powerful love can be, and when it's real, reasonable, and right, despite all the pain that brings at times, it can change anything for the best, and it makes a big beautiful difference. It doesn't matter how much knowledge your mind has, your heart will always be wiser than your mind if you look through life from there, and it will always make sense once you learn it.

He also had hallucinations about being a Spanish-born general in ancient Rome and also some relentless French police chief of the 19th century who would sing instead of talk. He even thought at times that he was Robin Hood or that he was even an alien whose son became some costumed superhero on Earth. But this real-life character was the most special, perhaps. I almost shed manly tears at his speech: Alicia Nash is one of the most beautiful (inside and out) movie wives in film history. She fully deserved his beautiful tribute. I have lived with schizophrenia for twenty years. A lot of what happened in my life was similar to what John went through (I see and hear things that are not real). I also now make the decision to ignore what I can but the fact is, that is my reality. To discover that a friend of 15 years does not exist was heartbreaking for me but a relief at the same time as I received medication to combat the illness. Mental illness does get swept under the carpet. I have people close to me that still suggest that I should just “get over it”. In other pop culture, Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20 wrote a song called unwell. It sums up my life to a t. This is not a rant, nor a pity party. Everyone’s reality is different and whatever yours is, try to enjoy every step of the journey. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

The first time I saw this I was shocked to find out that Russell Crow didn't win an Oscar for this movie. The first question I asked my teacher was "Did he win an Oscar for this?" Unbelievable that he didn't. But, I once heard Denzel Washington say you don't always get the award for the film you think you should get it for. He thought he should have gotten the award for Malcolm X, Russell Crow should have gotten for "A Beautiful Mind". I guess if you win, you win for all your work, not just the one movie, at least I'd like to think of it that way.

1951, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) hired Nash as a C. L. E. Moore instructor in the mathematics faculty. About a year later, Nash began a relationship with Eleanor Stier, a nurse he met while admitted as a patient. They had a son, John David Stier, but Nash left Stier when she told him of her pregnancy] The film based on Nash's life, A Beautiful Mind, was criticized during the run-up to the 2002 Oscars for omitting this aspect of his life. He was said to have abandoned her based on her social status, which he thought to have been beneath his

Short, sweet and simple. Some of the greatest orations in history have been several.paragraphs or even one. Lincoln proved that with his Gettysburg Address. He was proceeded by a speaker who gave an hour long speech. Lincoln rocked the world in about 7 minutes.

"I've always believed in numbers, in the equations and logics that lead to reason, but after a lifetime of such pursuit, I ask what truly is logic? Who decides the reason? My quest has taken me Through the physical, the metaphysical, the delusional and back. And I have made. The most important discovery of my career, the most important discovery of my life, it is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logical reasons can be found. I'm only here tonight because of you! You are the reason I am =you are all my reasons thank you! "

Hey, Sam... Interesting, isn't it? Everybody loves this movie, loves that final "conclusion" you quoted. Yeah, but at the same, they ignore the stuff of everyday life, you know, that need to be led, guided, governed and taught by those "brilliant minds," those people armed with all those college degrees in this and that and, well, everything because God knows unless you have PhD or something after your name, well, ain't nobody gonna pay you a bit of attention. Oh, and what do people like that demand? Yeah, that you put your life in the hands of these "experts," these men and woman who are oh so much smarter than everyone else. And what do "common" everyday ordinary people do? Yeah, they "trust" them. They "believe in" them. And they all argue like hell over everything from creation and God v evolution (perhaps the oldest of all enduring debates) to, well now, it's abortion and global warming and on and on and they all end the same, right? "If you don't agree with me, well you're just an idiot and I want nothing to do you." In blue-collar parlance: "Go to hell and die." But then, as they are all old and dying, all of 'em wanna say, "Life is really about love, about loving each other, about being in love...." Really? It takes a lifetime to figure that out? Makes me really damned glad I never went to college and yes, it's a rant so I shut up and go away now. Sam, stay safe and be well.

@@jackmorgan8931 Yeah. The people who spend their lives learning about the important forces of the world get to make decisions that matter. And people like you get to make youtube comments. Get over it. Your waste of life doesn't justify a critique of advanced expertise, especially when you're clearly too stupid to even understand what these people do. I hope you enjoy the internet, because end of the day, people like you live every day as a joke to those around you and die irrelevant. You'll be more use to the earth as plant nutrients than as the most advanced thinking machine the universe has ever created. Goddamn that's one hell of a failure on your part.
