A Calif. Zephyr #5 in Ft. Morgan on 14JULY2024.

Yes. I caught both trains and I am posting in order of appearance.
This California Zephyr #5 arrived in Fort Morgan at 0549 MDT (3 min. off). Powering the 8-car train wereP42s #76 & #157. The train sopped with the consist across Main Street. There was no passenger activity for #5 and the highball was given. With a clear signal at west Ft. Morgan CP, the Zephyr rolled west toward Union Station in Denver.
My thanks, as usual, to the operating crew for the greetings this morning.

The gent I was talking with is boarding #6 for the trip to Illinois and home.
Temp. 74 F. Feels like 78 F.
Going for another heat record today.

I grew up on the Gulf coast of Florida, Clearwater & St. Petersburg, and remember that humidity. But it didn't bother me as a kid like it does now. Nice on Mike. Thanks. Now let's see what #6 has to offer. Have a great day.

You are the official greeter 5:11 for Fort Morgan, Colorado. Look like a beautiful morning. This morning while waiting for number 4 to come in to Flagstaff, a beautiful lightning show and rain. The camera was looking to the east and caught the whole show. That’s the way to watch it. Enjoy your day.

Good morning, Gerald; Thanks for tuning in and the comments. I was not sure who was in the cab but that was a nice toot. I'll always greet the Zephyrs with a wave and a "Hi". They are on the clock, and I am on retirement. I have watched thunderstorms from the "Big 10" camera as it looks out over the plains. Like the view you were watching, it becomes spectacular. That may make the "Grab Bag". Southwest rail cams now have a live camera in Wiggins looking over the BNSF main thru there. That is about 13 miles west of Ft. Morgan. Anyway, I have others to reply to as well. Please take care, stay cool, and safe down there.

Afternoon, Mike. After yesterday's crowd, today's quick stop was kind of a bummer. Nothing happening! She came in with a beautiful morning sky behind her, and left with a "normal" one ahead of her and her usual ALCO act. It was nice to hear one of the now depleted chorus in great form. I'll check back in for #6.

Hi Ginny; Yep. We are working in the heat as well. Just don't have the heavy humidity although it is a bit elevated here this morning. I'm with Taffy. Only go out when I have to. And that is not much. Take care, stay cool, and safe back there.

Good Sunday morning Mike! That was a good honk from the head end this morning! I did originally comment on this. It wasn’t here when I just came back to rewatch this. Oh well! Good morning, Mark Thank you for dialing in and the comments. KZfaq has a tendency to drop remarks. Or you caught the cancel button as I do a lot. They met #6 near Brighton and a smelly fixture there known as Barr Lake. That is a disservice to what has been done to clean that reservoir up and make it into a state park. There is a cloud bank overhead right now holding in the heat already. It is still nice indoors after we trapped the cooler night air as the temp went above 75F. The A/C will start cycling later this afternoon. I have no plans to leave the cool. today. I hope that you and yours have a great Sunday back there. Please take care, stay in the shade, and safe!

Yeah good morning Mike I've been out west and you do have to drink a lot of water. I've been to Colorado western Nebraska the Black hills Western Kansas and every time I go there they always remind you to drink lots of water. Cuz it is dry out there. And you know like he said if you're sweating through your shirt you're in deep doo-doo.
