I know the criticism, but it's my number 1 go-to movie. It's a beautiful story, so many layers of character conflict, the landscape, and the score. I love the cast, as one is Bill Paxton (RIP) anyways. I'm glad my old school friend dragged me into the theatres to see it when we were kids. This movie made me want to learn more about the history of mountaineering.

I had the same Glacier Glasses Robin Tuney has... lasted 18 years... now I have the Julbo Cham Polarized... love them. I like how Scott Glen just lives on K2... WTF does he eat? I also love how everyone on K2 (which is slightly shorter than Everest, and more remote) isn't wearing down suits. Instead, they're dressed like they're climbing Rainier in the summer. (I miss Seattle). The Chris O'Neill jump is hilarious, it might as well been a Trebuchet launching him into a cliff of jagged rock.

How is a wall of fire from the exploding nitro hitting the ground not setting Monique on fire? How is Peter not sliding down the side of that second cliff with his two ice picks. How is Annie uninjured when she falls on solid ice on her back while McClaren who falls the same way has multiple broken ribs and internal bleeding. How did they go thru two packs of dex in two days time. How are they summitting carrying no 02.

This is one of my favorite movies. The score was phenomenal. Your take on almost every scene was hilarious. Good job but please leave my favorite movies alone. Next do Night of the Comet. 😂 And p.s. The scene where Peter's assistant falls is crucial to the plot. The way that guy breaks his leg in multiple places plus dislocates his hip as he falls means he needs immediate surgery which forces them to hitch a ride on the military chopper to the military hospital which then pitstops to K2 basecamp to drop off medical supplies which leads Peter to Annie. This is how Peter ends up there. Otherwise he would have been nowhere near Annie or that rescue. The broken leg victim is the conduit. You can thank me later.

I don't care if this movie is bad, I just love it. I saw it in theaters when I was 5 because my father wanted to see it. This movie singlehandedly made me want to pursue a career in photography and later on in filmmaking. But also made me wanna climb mountains. And I have done all 3 at one point in my life. I can see over it's many flaws because of how made me feel when I was a little boy, it was just a blast. People like to shit on it because of it's silliness, but I thank this movie for many things I am today. I will always defend it not as an amazing peace of cinema, not as a great example of mountaineering, but as a "fantasy" light-hearted, and fun piece of entertainment. It will always be one of my favorite movies ever, no matter how goofy people say it is. I'm not cynical, nor hypocrite, I sincerely say it, I love this movie. And no, it is not a guilty pleasure to me, I don't hide saying that I care for a great plot or grounded reality, that's BS, movies are also meant to be fun and escape reality every once in a while. And this movie does it for me, everytime I watch it, it make me feel like a kid again, believing everything is possible. I did mountaineering thanks to this movie. I became a photographer thanks to Chris O'Donell's character. I pursue filmmaking because this made me discover a whole world that involves making a movie because it made me curious of how they did somethings. I mean Martin Campbell is responsible for GOLDENEYE, CASINO ROYALE, THE MASK OF ZORRO.... I dare anyone to say those are terrible films. This man made with VERTICAL LIMIT a fun, enjoyable, action-adventure film. You say it's ridiculous and all of you compare it with CLIFFHANGER... but what about: THE EIGER SANCTION? Just wondering...
@mipmipmipmipmip
@mipmipmipmipmip 2 жыл бұрын
From a photography direction, what's up with the use of light in this movie? All light seems to always come straight from the camera's viewpoint. Also, make-up work is horrid, no consistency in what just happened in the movie - eg nitroglycerin blew up in someone's face in previous scene but in next scene the actor looks like they just had a refreshing shower.

I got to say this is become one of my favorite channels. Your videos seem professionally done which isn't always the case with KZfaqrs who review movies, you also have a good sense of humor and it's kind of nice to revisit some of these movies without actually having to watch the whole movie. When I was a kid I never watched Beastmaster and I always wanted to see it because I had friends who loved it. Years later when I was an adult I came across and tried to watch it and realized it was the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life. Not the kind of thing I would ever rewatch on my own. I can watch a humorous 20 minutes video that Recaps the most notable parts. It's the way I feel about almost every John Claude Van Damme movie or Steven Seagal movie. Though I could watch time cop or under siege again to this day but I'm not sure if there's too many more movies than either their libraries that I would want to rewatch now. But watching a 20 minute video about the movie Bloodsport or above the law is quite doable and I still get to have some nostalgia

800 of his soldiers have died or medically evacuated in 6 years? Every 3 days he's losing someone solely to the elements? The body count for the entire movie is basically what he loses every month at his base camp. That seems...excessive. Also, I guess you can throw Chris O'Donnell into the Josh Hartnett/Taylor Kitsch "We can make anyone a movie star" pile.

Every mountain/rock climbing movie ever: "Let's open with a scene where everything is going alrighty, and and then just arbitrarily make everything go instantly and horrendously wrong..."

Taking the time to blow a whistle when all heck is breaking loose is insane.

Isn't there a scene in a helicopter, where one of the climbers is stretching and someone asks what he's doing, to which he replies "trying to kiss my ass goodbye" ?

Someday I hope you do 1987's Blood moon. Good fights. Horrible acting. Killer with metal fingers and a magician cop. So much material

I cant believe ol' Bill Paxton ate a protein bar with the wrapper on it. Like I expect him to not be a very good climber, because he's an actor, but surely actors have eaten protein bars and understand wrappers. That's a hilarious catch.

As a kid, this was the most intense movie ever. Looks like it hasn't aged particularly well. 🤣

Many years ago I loved the movie. This inspired me the love for photography and cameras ( the guy was a NG photographer) .
