This video is a complete guide on how to perform a 60k-120k service on a 1990-1996 Nissan 300zx. This guide show how to remove the timing belt, pulleys, gears, and everything inbetween with the correct torque specs given from the FSM for a Z32. If you follow these steps this install should go smoothly and be beneficial for anyone who performs this procedure. Yes, some things were performed in an obscure way, but this is being done with the minimal amount of tools and supplies.
The main key to this is to take your time and do not cut any corners! I hope this helps and Good Luck!

Easy seal extraction tip. A small self tapping screw or drill small pilot hole then small screw inserted partway into seal. Lever under screw head with forked tack removal. The seals, where their rubber makes contact with camshaft and crankshaft should be lightly lubed with oil before insertion. 😎 I also had to replace the foam perimeter dust seals and some rubber bolt grommets on the timing belt cover. Pretty good vid and the paint and color combo is awesome.

AC tension pulley bearing froze up and broke my AC belt. Watching this video around 39:10 showed me how simple it is to replace pulley, Just loosen the nut on the front and slide it out bottom of the slot. I got a used pulley off eBay and I just back off the adjuster bolt and slide the new setup into slot, snug the front nut, put on the belt to hold pulley in place, loosen nut and adjust to proper tightness of the belt. Thanks for a clear view of this assembly.

On the concept Z wiki it suggests for the tensioner to be 3.5mm - 5.2mm and you should rotate your engine 720 degrees twice and recheck the tensioner. You should definitely be good. Also my tension is always coming back to 5mm. I want to readjust to be within spec but I’m scared I may loosen the belt too much.

Also, when I turned the engine back to the starting point for belt install, the tensioner gap was still under 4 mm there. So the gap ranged from just under 4 mm to just under 5 mm. Belt should be, somewhat ride onbthe middle of the sprockets, depending on what belt you purchased (if not oem) it way be a bit wider.. Also the belt will somewhat center itself after a few rotations. I typally male sure as long as the belt is centered on the tensioner you should be okay

For the Crankshaft sprocket it's very simple, the only thing you want to really focus on is the washers that go with it. Once you put the washers in the correct area all you do is slide the sprocket on. Cleaning the crankshaft with a scotchbrite free of rust and lubing the inner race will help it go on smoothly.

@ZBruhzchannel

@@ZBruhzchannel Thank you, would like to know it's purpose. He explained that he put approximately 15lb's of pressure on the belt before securing, so how does the bolt affect the tension?
@ZBruhzchannel
@ZBruhzchannel 2 жыл бұрын
@@davekelly7184 the bolt is used to keep the tensioner from fully opening to its furthest point. It's a hydraulic tensioner.
