That’s all super valid. Like I said, printing your own is a much more cost-effective solution and allows you to support an artist. Buddy of mine has his entire DG army printed (minus Morty) and it cost him a fraction of the price. I really wanna try Star Wars legions and the new halo war game coming out

Like I said, at this point, unless I know said person has the cash to burn, I can't recommend getting into the hobby without feeling bad. I've got 3 armies and I'm happy to let folks use them. Like I say in the video, the way we get around this high barrier to entry is by lending a helping hand.

I think my Necron are the closest thing to a horde army I’ve got and that’s still rough on my wallet 😓 I’ve bought most of my Necron stuff second hand and all my daemon units for my thousand sons are as well. Makes things way more affordable

@@blindjustice5695 strange that Disneys star wars had little blips of growth too with Mando season 1 and rebels, strange star wars old lore exists too, yet Disney is losing money. Give it time, with a combat patrol costing what a 3d printer costs, and they are becoming cheaper and better, they will either have to adapt in some way, or thier stock will look like Disney's stock.

What a corporate bootlicker. "Please don't blame my precious billionaires you don't understand how badly the other billionaires want all of my money!" I blame GW for trying to please stockholders. I do not care if they lose money so that investors pull out. If they fail as a company, there are far better alternatives that are already thriving, and even more would fill the vacuum. It would be what they deserve But in all reality I imagine that they wouldn't fail anyway because the government would give them a corporate bailout. But as far as your last point, I think a lot of people (myself included) are pretty clearly not paying for it.

I mean, we can see how their doing financially. It's all public. They're doing just fine. At this rate its just corpo greed. I blame them for alienating people who might not have 50 bucks to blow on a model kit. I blame them for placing business over the consumer. Shit ass capitalism is all it is. Am I still gonna buy models? Sure. I like supporting local game shops. Again, I don't think GW can say they're trying to be "customer-focused" and then turn around and keep raising prices. GW would not be losing money had they just kept prices the same if their public filings were to be believed.

Their 'profits' are healthy, but relatively small for a company this size and industry. Importantly, their *margin* has remained a consitent approx. 30% for years. Which is aroud the average for the board game industry (of which they belong). This is a hobby, and an optional one at best. Costs go up - they don't owe the consumer anything to keep their prices down because the world is expensive. They owe their staff an income, wage increase, bonuses and security - that is what the 3% hike comes in at. We live in a capitalist world, so if that 30% margin starts tanking, share prices follow, then job cuts and a difficult time ahead. Also you seem to completely discount macro economics and driving forces. They are a manufacturing bussiness, that sector was hit very hard during the pandemic and even harder when Ukraine hit because ENERGY costs went through the roof and there are no protections for business on that - do you know how much energy security the UK has? Spoiler - not a lot. So... people whinging "Corporate greed" about a luxury hobby, especially foreigners who don't really know about the UK, only ever come across entitled and lacking any real knowledge about how the world works. Frankly, you should be complaining about politicians who have allowed corruption to spike things that actually matter (food, houses, energy, etc) whilst failing to implement protection for people to have a decent income - NOT the price of plastic toy soldiers. Seriously, if you don't like it, just leave the hobby. Preferably quietly.

I can see reasons for a small price increase, HOWEVER, judging by how well their gross revenue has been increasing just over the past year, I would wage not much would be impacted if they didn’t raise the prices. Cause people are gonna buy them regardless (like myself) I’m not gonna “leave the hobby” because I’m advocating for people to be able to enjoy this game and hobby that I love. FUnny how that works. GW doesn't have any monopoly, they just supply the most liked products. This is a hobby. Totally optional. Nobody is holding your feet to the fire to be part of it. If you like another system or game - go and play it - but absolutely nobody cares and wants to hear you as you saunter off crying about it.

Just because people can't afford official GW shit doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to get into the hobby. This is why I encourage people to buy secondhand or print their shit so they're supporting a fellow human. This hobby and game are great, and people shouldn't be barred from enjoying it because they don't want to/can't drop 40k of their own money for an army.
