She discussed in the interview above that education is a part of division between her family members and human beings in general and it disturbs her pretty much. And now your comment is about educational level comparison. How sarcastic it is.

But she does have insight in how people come from vastly different backgrounds and have vastly different understandings. What she saw in her own family is also reflected in different ways across America, and I think she is right about education not really being about connecting or learning as much anymore - the degree itself has become a tool that propels you into the "educated" in-group, with its values and ideas, without necessarily the introspection and thoughtfulness and reflective learning that education /should/ be. And since education is so expensive now... it can be more divisive by encouraging seperate rich/urban/educated groups and rural/poor/uneducated groups (to make a gross simplification). And that is a problem. Got on a tangent. But the point is that while she doesn't make that claim, she does gain a lot of insight from her own personal experience. Her book resonates because there are so many thoughts, feelings, and insights there that are almost universally familiar. Even if her personal experience doesn't directly correlate or prove her words/thoughts on this topic.

Yes. I was raised (as still am a member) in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, and I can attest that this is not the norm. Not even close. As you say, this family is in a category all its own. If I had been raised with this family, we would have been concerned.

I wonder if that has to do with her lack of exposure growing up. Being so shielded from pop culture would seem to keep her from being star struck, possibly. She's probably most impressed with his brain, not his accomplishments.

But... she has put a lot of effort into study herself, and it obviously was a huge effort, to achieve her goals. Imagine the effort, of not having High /School education (?and primary...but her mother provided primary at home )and jumping into University. I'm sure she was ready for other clever minds, she then came across..

Please don't hate, but we have 607 billionaires at this writing (July 2019) , including Mr. Gates. He picks and chooses, or his people do, who ha awards scholarships to and these scholarships are TAX DEDUCTIBLE, which translates to LESS federal $$ going toward education (for the many) in favor of gifts, which Gates takes MUCH credit for, to a few. And...if he and the other billionaires just paid close to their fair share of taxes, parents would not have to worry about college tuition and graduates would not be buried in debt. Just sayin', folks. Oh, and trust me, they are not going to "leave" the U.S... To where? This country gives corporations a consistent breaks and the corporate tax rate in on the low side of average (look at Wikipedia). Are Bill and Jeff and Warren and George and Elon and companies relocating to the Emirates? To the4 British Virgin Islands? To the Bahamas? I do not think so. And don't hand us that "they create jobs" nonsense. Youy can't get above a minimum wage paying job in their companies without a University degree, which costs a lot of $$, which brings me back to my original point. .

solara ahmed you well, start with children stories and then move step by step to harder ones . Then you will achieve your goal. 2015, I hardly spoke a word in English and now I have a master and first year PhD student in an American university. I started reading fanfictions in English when I was a teen. Sounds silly, but I think it made a difference. Reading real literature was hard at the begging, though. A Kindle can be a useful instrument to get you started, because you can easily check the new vocabulary, and even revisit it later. It’s much better than using a separate dictionary, because the reading flows. Anyway, one thing I’ve noticed is that the first book by a new author is always harder, because every author uses different words, and has a different style. So reading a series is easier than reading separate books by different authors. And you should probably start with recent books, like Harry Potter, and go for the classics when you have more practice
