as an American, I feel sad that people were burning the books for some stupid reason, I am a retired teacher assistant and now a part time nanny..And I remember children lined up around blocks waiting to buy the next Harry Potter book..to buy a book, not a toy, or a game a book..and children wanted to read..and anything that does that..is beyond incredible

As dramatic as it sounds, Harry Potter shaped so much of my existence. Despite being female, I always related to him as a character the most. I felt like I had bits of Hermione but I always felt so connected to him (and also had a childhood friend who was almost a carbon copy of Daniel). I'm still not over it :(

No way a writer of such stature can even begin to claim ownership of that. The Greeks bought that thousands of years ago and it's still as fresh as it used to be back them... That's true brilliance. A thousand, two thousand years later and that dude who came up with them will still find guys like me protecting his intellectual property. I’m 24 and whenever I see a kid reading Harry Potter I feel so jealous because I’ll never experience The excitement of reading a Harry Potter book for the first time. I just finished reading the series for the 5th time and it’s not the same because I know what’s going to happen. I am the same age as the trio and remember reading Harry Potter every single summer when they were released, sitting in a field where I lived and completly loosing myself in the magic. I love them all, and every now and again will read all 7 books again and always notice new things.

This is obviously an old interview but you stated you read them 5 times. I would reread all the prior books again ahead of a new release. Now I average 3 to 4 times a year. And in my opinion her Cormoran Strike books are just as good.

@@amyk9813 I just reread the series for maybe the 4th or 5th time, all the previous times were done before I graduated high school so it’s been 10 years. As an adult I have an even better appreciation for it, for things most kids/teens don’t pay attention to when reading. The way it’s written, the humor, the subtle foreshadowing, etc. I 1000% recommended you read them. You’ll also find that many of the ‘plot holes’ and unanswered questions from the movies are explained well in the book.

I was fortunate enough to be in that audience at MSG when Rowling said Dumbledore was gay. The reaction was stupendous! The audience went completely bonkers for several minutes. I remember feeling like I was a witness to history being made that night. I just loved the whole experience.

It is true that the characters are Jo's family in a way, because she has been with them for 20 years and they have come out of her mind, obviously. But they must not forget that many of us have also been with them for nearly as long as she has. These are our childhood friends that grew up with us, but never let us down, that stayed with us, when things were difficult. These are real, 3-dimensional people, not only for her, but for many of us too.

I think, it was important for both, Daniel and Joanne, to talk about this... this era coming to an end. Tho this talk (unlike their real conversation before) was scripted, you can see, that both of them had things on their mind, that needed to be said, while only very few people would understand and appreciate the importance of it. Daniel did live being Harry for almost 10 years straight and he was clearly grateful towards her for the books , that probably made his career possible and for that really unique role he got to play. Joanne had written those books for 17 years and after loosing that connection after all those years, was bound to appreciate the movies 4 movies coming after she ended writing Harry Potter (that’s Movies 5 to 7.2) in a way unimaginable for us outsiders. Maybe, it was like an open window, a time travel, back to those friends, she holds so dearly in her heart. 4 more years to come to a close about it. I think, tho it was a really nice talk, most of us cannot imagine the meaning their meeting had to those particular people.

@@datmanUK I get it, but the movies are from his perspective, I don't really know in what situation he needed to stand up for someone because he was always the one to get almost killed ahgaha (im not saying your opinion is wrong but I'm just telling how I see it :)

@@nikki8726 not once did he crack a joke, give them a bday present, compliment anyone. He’s just me me me. Everybody else rallied around him but I thought he was a pain in the ass.

@@datmanUK He did buy all those candy for Ron in philosopher's stone, he complimented cho in gof, he comforted Hermione in hbp, he protected Hermione in poa, He freed dobby in cos, he made Ron think he had luck potion in hbp, He told Luna he was her friend in hbp (she didn't had much friends so it would make her feel happy too) He wanted to buy Ron food again in gof and more... I get what u mean I really do, but I disagree
