@@CS-bd2lc You are SO far off what actually happened... The issue with J.K.'s "transphobia" wasn't even a thought at the time that commenter is referring to. They're speaking of when the books were burned by religious nuts who thought they were "witchcraft." This whole idea of J.K. being some kind of "bigot" or "phobe" will not be her legacy, and is nothing more than a sign of the "cancel culture" times.

@@CS-bd2lc No, it wasn't, you uneducated, spoilt crybabies. Would all of you be so loud if a famous male said something sexist about half of the globe? No. To you a few trans women matter more than half of the globe of women. Yet again male issues are treated more seriously even if it's just a few of them having them. Getting tired of this. All this outrage because she said she supports them, yet there's a biological difference between them and born women...which is a fact.

As dramatic as it sounds, Harry Potter shaped so much of my existence. Despite being female, I always related to him as a character the most. I felt like I had bits of Hermione but I always felt so connected to him (and also had a childhood friend who was almost a carbon copy of Daniel). I'm still not over it :(

Yeah but dementors ... I mean come on ... Everyone knows or they should that she got that from Erinyes and that's the end of it. No way a writer of such stature can even begin to claim ownership of that. The Greeks bought that thousands of years ago and it's still as fresh as it used to be back them... That's true brilliance. A thousand, two thousand years later and that dude who came up with them will still find guys like me protecting his intellectual property. Unless she previously clarified that and I haven't read it anywhere ... Anyways, that's simply one little bit of her universe, as you put it.

@@amyk9813 I just reread the series for maybe the 4th or 5th time, all the previous times were done before I graduated high school so it’s been 10 years. As an adult I have an even better appreciation for it, for things most kids/teens don’t pay attention to when reading. The way it’s written, the humor, the subtle foreshadowing, etc. I 1000% recommended you read them. You’ll also find that many of the ‘plot holes’ and unanswered questions from the movies are explained well in the book.

It is true that the characters are Jo's family in a way, because she has been with them for 20 years and they have come out of her mind, obviously. But they must not forget that many of us have also been with them for nearly as long as she has. These are our childhood friends that grew up with us, but never let us down, that stayed with us, when things were difficult. These are real, 3-dimensional people, not only for her, but for many of us too.

I think, it was important for both, Daniel and Joanne, to talk about this... this era coming to an end. Tho this talk (unlike their real conversation before) was scripted, you can see, that both of them had things on their mind, that needed to be said, while only very few people would understand and appreciate the importance of it. Daniel did live being Harry for almost 10 years straight and he was clearly grateful towards her for the books , that probably made his career possible and for that really unique role he got to play. Joanne had written those books for 17 years and after loosing that connection after all those years, was bound to appreciate the movies 4 movies coming after she ended writing Harry Potter (that’s Movies 5 to 7.2) in a way unimaginable for us outsiders. Maybe, it was like an open window, a time travel, back to those friends, she holds so dearly in her heart. 4 more years to come to a close about it. I think, tho it was a really nice talk, most of us cannot imagine the meaning their meeting had to those particular people.
