When I got to the Pikepaw part I remembered that the reason why most people emigrate to other countries isn't because they feel like they belong to said country, but because the other country is better in some way. I feel like it would be interesting if a plot point in one of the later books is that multiple cats have been moving to, say, Riverclan, because it's the only clan with a significant amount of prey in the middle of a famine, or is the only one not currently infested by dogs.

The fact that the new code allows for cats to switch clans without the need for a romantic reason makes me think Nightheart is jumping over to Shadowclan. Book 3 I believe says there’s a new arrival in Shadowclan, and I don’t think it is referencing Sunbeam’s new sister in law. I think it’s referencing the lost puppy that won’t leave her alone.

I find it stupid that *other clan leaders* need to be in agreement of yeeting a leader of one clan away. Unless that leaders clan has like only 5 cats in it, there's no reason other clan leaders should be shoving their head into it. I feel things like an alliance or friendship can effect this hosing of an unfit leaders. Like I am absolutely all for all the medicines having to agree (at the same time I'm okay with only one medicine cat agreeing to get rid of a leader) and the clan I'm okay (would also be okay with 1/3) but OTHER CLAN LEADERS?? Nah, no, begone fleas!

I would really like to see Bramblestar get impeached in this arc. After everything that happened in the dark forest it’s quite clear that now he’s a pretty unstable and anxious guy, and he has trouble doing his leader duties and gaining the trust of other cats because of it. I think that he would be happier as a warrior and that squirrelflight would make a great leader as well, and I think that it would be an interesting way to showcase the new rule in the warrior code!

One thing I would add to the apprentice & deputy rule is to mention that the apprentice MUST make it to the rank of warrior. It always kinda bugged me that there's a chance someone can get an apprentice for a little while, kill them off, & still be able to have a chance at becoming a deputy. If one wishes to be deputy, not only must you have trained an apprentice, but that apprentice MUST have made it to adulthood & earned their warrior name. It will suck for good mentors who would end up losing their apprentices to freak accidents, but anyone trying to speedrun to being leader can at least be slowed down & can't simply take an easy way there. As for other requirements, I'm unsure. Maybe one can be that the deputy cannot be too young - maybe 3+ years? Another can be is to up the amount of apprentices one has to train, like instead of one, maybe two or three. I'm curious what other requirements others can think of.

It's a nice thought to think forbidden romance will be a retired plot line in the books but it's simply that, a nice thought. The writer's are much to lazy to retire their most tired and used plot point thus will find ways to implement a nearly identical concept in the new books. As we see with Shadowclan just because a cat passes a challenge and gets accepted into the clan does not mean the cats approve of it or treat it much differently then the previous forbidden romances. Only difference is leaders can't punish these cats as it's not against the law but the bulk of the cats can still reject and betray. It's not forbidden but it's still not approved. I wish this was no longer the case but the only thing the writers know is to run in loops. Without this tired drama half the books in a series wouldn't exist as they couldn't think of more to do besides maybe like ten fox or badger attacks.

I read a SquirrelAsh fanfic where LeafPool suggested a new rule to CloudStar (CloudTail) where a medicine cat can take in a mate and have kits, but as long as they have a trained apprentice.

on the leader rule, i'm kind of meh on it, cuz if a bad leader chooses a bad deputy then the leader is deposed the bad deputy, now leader chosses the old leader( or another bad cat, if the leader is banned) as deputy and the entire thing doesn't even work anymore, anyone to comment on how this loophole could be fixed.

Commenting this before i've seen the video, but i wanna take this chance to mention my own thoughts on it beforehand!! Personally i'm kinda iffy on it. I do like the idea of medicine cats being allowed to have a mate and kits and perhaps cross clan relationships being allowed under certain circumstances, but i'm also worried that the erins will almost completely erase it and end the series on a cheesy note. Like, what if they decide to completely erase the code and have some my little pony friendship is magic style ending where theres no fighting, no borders, no rules, and everyone just lives in peace and harmony? Yes the code has caused issues in the past, but thats what gave tension and drama in so many of the books and I feel like it'll ruin it if the erins end it on a little "everyone is happy and loves eachother now" note. ESPECIALLY because of how things went during "a light in the mist" where they were talking about how hope and friendship would help them save starclan and escape the DF... Even if the code doesn't change in every way possible I worry that the current changes will cause this kind of ending

Honestly I hope they don’t do like some thing with frostpaw that she is getting fake signs from starclan like with ashfur and shadowsight I believe. I also kinda hope That Nightheart becomes a villain of a sort than becoming another Firestar. I doubt that may happen but I hope it is a possibility

I really havent been keeping up with the new books or warriors much at all in general. But it was shocking to see the leader replacement rule, which is pretty much what happens to one of my ocs! Except she gets replaced by someone who was evil and a charismatic liar… but, yknow. Still shocking.

Why even forbid relationships? Everything would be better if the clans just let them happen, instead of throwing a collective temper tantrum every... single... time... the Medicine cat part isn't even more than one medicine cat failing at life and dooming the others to be celibates, wether or not they want to be... the only relationships I'd forbid would be the ones where one participant is underage. And I am not making excuses for MapleShade being so possessive and obsessed either.

The warning code states that if a leader dies, is exiled, or retires, the deputy will become leader, but in Nightstar’s case, the previous leader, Brokenstar, was exiled for commiting several atrocities such as stealing kits. He had a deputy but that deputy fled with him. Nightstar was elected but didn’t receive nine lives because Brokenstar was still alive? How does that work? And then there is Tigerstar, who should never have become leader of ShadowClan. Cindefur was Nightstar’s real deputy but he died very conviently almost right before Tigerstar arrived. According to the warriors wiki, Cinderfur was watching Tigerstar’s ceremony with worried eyes. Really, Cinderfur should’ve succeeded Nightstar, but of course, plot means Cinderfur gets to die. Also, why would StarClan give Tigerstar nine lives? As far as I know, he only mentored Ravenpaw, and Ravenpaw didn’t even complete his training. And he commited several atrocities just like Brokenstar. WHY IS WARRIORS SO COMPLICATED!

I agree that the 3/4 rule makes it basically impossible, but didn't flamepaw himself point that out within the book itself when it was made? That even ashfoot wouldn't get voted out under those rules? Unless it was just supposed to be another moment of him being bratty I feel like the rules might still further change or something else might happen, since the premise of the arc was them deciding on rule changes. Not that I wouldn't put it past them for that to be a throw away line and not change it any further but the arc so far is about people debating the rule changes.

I think I'm in favor of the relationship rule. Because I feel like forbidden relationships became a overused plot device to generate drama. But some random task to get into the clan is way too easy. I think I was on the warrior discord and someone suggested they have to be a apprentice for 3 months and have to be called a paw. I think this makes way more sense because they will learn how the clan works and the embarrassment of being called a paw is much more likely to weed out the simple crushes

Hey there guys, humor a poor old soul here: How do the half-clan romances work now if they’re no longer forbidden? Is it widely accepted, even if there are kits? No punishments or scrutiny? Are they required to change clans if so? I haven’t read any books in several years but I like to watch the community videos anyway, so if anyone has the time to explain it to a geezer like me I’d be very appreciative 😅

I always found forbidden romance odd. I understand Gray and Silver, their clans were actively at war at the time. But other than that? I don't get why it's a big deal.

I still think the code of killing a cat in battle would change to protect all cats, not just cats from the clans. Like the code written now is; "An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense." What I see is that the cat outside the code would be a rogue, or a kittypet. I mean, it won't stop most warriors from killing kittypets, looking at you Raggedstar..., but it'd be nice to see the code protect cats who are outside the code. Like, an honorable warrior does not need to kill to win a battle. They may only kill if it is in self defense. I might be asking for too much lmfao.

The cats should be allowed to vote on the deputy and maybe not so many cats should have to agree on a new leader.

I like how they change the code but not in a way that matters or challenges the society that's ultimately flawed. XD It's like, "We're not addressing the bad cats were brought up in a xenophobic society that values how much you give to the Clan rather than your individuality and if you're disabled well your whole life is over if we don't have a spot for a medicine cat!" Like sure you can switch Clans but do you think for a second the Clan that takes them in won't bully and treat them like an outsider for the rest of their life just because of their blood line? Or taking a mate from another Clan? Also the "You can toss out leaders" has so many stipulations there's no way it'd work. You think an evil cat like Tigerstar would just sit there and count out how many cats want him gone and casually wait for a vote? He slaughtered anyone who spoke out against him and if the cats who follow him are okay with murder, they're not going to vote him out. It's the society and overall structure that needs changing, not a few rules.

No. That's Not How This Works, They're Saying That You're Not Allowed To Fight Anymore. In Short It's Saying Not To Take Territory. There's A Difference Between NEVER Fighting Again And Defending Your Existing Territory. The Only Part Of The New Code I Don't Really Like Is A Tiny Detail. That The Other Leaders Have To Agree To Demote A Bad Leader, That Should Just Be Kept In The Affected Clan's Business And Then Mentioned At A Gathering Or Something. Like "Yea __Star Tried Murdering Kits. We Got Rid Of Them."

The clan leader removal rule is so stupid. I don't know why anyone making it would have that be the rule unless they were genuinely concerned their own clans would kick them out. At best it would be nice for there to theoretically be a chance for StarClan to give the new leader their lives and avoid another Nightstar, but otherwise what power does this rule have to stop anyone from forcibly taking over?

What I don't understand is why they don't make a series from the viewpoint of a villain protagonist. I mean think about it. The constant formula they use over and over and over again is getting tiring. Apprentice grows up, apprentice becomes warrior, warrior has love interest, forbidden or clan, warrior becomes hero to the clan in some way, warrior defeats villain. Why don't they make a series about a cat that has a lust for power, in his or her perspective, and said cat uses manipulation, war and death to rise to a position of power. Said cat takes complete control over all the clans. Next series switch to perspective of cat who forms a rebellion and takes the dictator cat down.
