After watching K drama for the last 10 years, I have rarely stumped upon such a good actor as Jo. I looked at his background, he started with theatre. I really think this matters a lot. He is so much more of a seasoned actor that other men starring on K dramas. Huge difference.

Yep. Many of the best Korean actors are theater trained, and a huge number of the older ones (50 and above were theater trained, and it shows).

#ChoJungseok is always great in his roles but this one is exceptional; he really exudes power in this role. His battle of words with the Dowager Queen are always so clever. Loving the series very much.

That one scene he was asking why she'd come back was unforgettable, i literally stopped breathing. Watched that scene 10 times and their acting, just wow. Also their dialogues were really well-written too, i had to read the subs 2 times to understand their allusive sentences.

Shin Sae Kyeong is so freaking gorgeous and beautiful. She is also a very versatile and excellent actress. Love Cho Jung -Seok too. He is a great actor and their chemistry is so good for this show. Can't wait for the remaining 6 episodes!

It’s amazing how my attention is really focused on their micro expressions and the way they act plus their dialogue as well keeps you guessing on what’s going on in their minds and hearts and you have no choice but really wait for the next episode to see what happens coz anything can literally happen in this show. The whole cast was amazing, but Junseok was superb. His portrayal of the king was so charismatic, not to mention compelling. Beautiful leading lady. The grand prince stole my heart, incredible child actor. Great drama all around 🤗🎬🍿😍

Cho Jung-Sok's acting is simply sensational. It is refined, bold and firm but also torn, sensitive and vulnerable. As I have been watching Korean dramas for many years this was one of the most refined performances I have seen so far. I don't know how he did it but hats off to him.

Have really come to appreciate his acting chops! He is able to portray the personality of a king who has experienced betrayal and intrigue to the extent he is hyper sensitive to anything perceived as betrayal. He is very believable in this character role, and his emotions, and conflicted feelings come through. Very well acted on both of their parts.

Omg exactly what I just did too! His micro changing of expression from her screaming "no" protecting herself, his confusion, leading to suspicion, followed by confirmation and lastly his disbelief... the gradual changes at every right point, its too perfect!!

He is an excellent actor and I was truly impressed with how he portrayed the King with deep emotional content. Episode 13 was absolutely brilliant for me with all the revelations. I had to watch that episode again after seeing the finale. I look forward to seeing him again in other kdramas.

Es , la mejor serie coreana que e visto y las e visto casi todas poro está es me encantan son unos actores maravillosos interpretan todos su papel de lujo pero está es maravillosa su Rey es único guapa sensual inteligente tiene una manera de mirar única y como la tocó como si no quisiera romperla es apasionante la forma de amar. @@michellesiew3652 Nobody pays any attention to IMDB reviews tho, as they are usually inaccurate. Besides, reviews mean nothing. I've watched some of the highest reviewed, and they've been garbage, and vice versa. And this one is superb. Easily one of the best performances in a K-drama (Jo Jung Seok) all year, and very successful in both Korea and on Netflix (in the Top 10 non-English shows on Netflix for weeks).
