That's because it happened to Republicans and not Democrats, full stop. It was an act committed by a radical leftist and not a radical rightwinger, therefore the establishment will do everything it can to memory-hole it, which they have, which is why you and most people aren't aware. The government won't go out of its way to remember it, nor will the media, the entertainment industry, and academia definitely won't do a damn thing either. This is the same story all day, every day. 2 worlds, 2 tiers of justice.
