you can see after first set federer can't move with his knees injury, but even when he play bad there is something in his style and skill so fun to watch

Uncomfortable to see Federer moving so slowly and so clearly out of sorts. But he could still win with careful choice of shots and will power.

Roger Freaking FEDERER. First set didn't really give an indication of what was to come. Midway through set 3 it was clear something was wrong, his serve speeds were slow as was his movement. This was overnight in my time zone so I did not really have the chance to follow this match but of course I looked for replays as hard as I could. Unreal how Fed somehow escaped this one. SEVEN match points saved!!!! That tied his own personal best for most match points saved en route to a win. But my god Sandgren was TIGHT ASF on those match points. As Chris Fowler for ESPN said "Well when you're a point away from a moment in your career you maybe didn't even dare to imagine...you can understand some nerves" after Sandgren's unforced error on the first match point. 5 of the 7 match points ended with an unforced error from Sandgren...but how about Federer on the 6th match point at 6-5!! Even Robbie K in commentary was so amazed he couldnt speak for a second..."OH FE-" lol. I was shocked Federer took the ball mid air before the bounce but it worked! And a bizarre moment at 3-3 when the ball kid ran into Sandgren's knee...which we cannot say affected the outcome given that Sandgren won the next 3 points. This would not have only given Sandgren the biggest win of his career, it would have been his first ever (and only) major semifinal. He would have stood no shot vs Novak of course, but still he missed his only chance to play a major semi. Sandgren failed to make it to one, and he had to watch Federer move into his 46th major semi. This was a treat for Fed fans to see him win when he shouldn't have but that's super painful for Sandgren who has not had any good results since AO 2020. And its quite something that THIS match, the one where Federer saves 7 match points on a groin injury (which wasnt even the injury that ended his career) is the last match he ever wins at this event. Great upload as always. And great post match interview from Fed and Courier as always. Fed-Courier post match interviews were always awesome.

To be honest, had he lost easily in this match (or the match against Millman) his knee may hurt less serious and his career could have been extended: '(

What could have been and it wasn't...Hard loss for sandgreen...It's a coincidence that his coach is Michael Russell, who also had a big loss against Gustavo Kuerten in 5 sets, and never recovered

no one will talk about how he saved multiple match points at 38 years of age to win the match. They forget RF is human and things like these happen in the game. Their so called Mental giant Djokovic has lost equal number of slam finals as roger have, they were both 20-11, in slam finals when they both had 20 slams, so how does djokovic better in mental strength if they have equal results in the finals.

Completely agree. Roger's disadvantage is that he's so much better than everyone else, that he generates more and more opportunities. And failing at that point hurts more. I'll pick him every day over anyone. Because he's the greatest by miles.

when you have 3 times in your career 40 15 and each time you finish defeated, it is clear that you have a mental disadvantage compared to this player. Federer is the best player after Djokovik. This is the reality.

@@dowakinsanguedidrago9374 It's not true, Federer is better. He has much better statistics in general than Nadal. Ih2h is better for Nadal because most of the matches were played on clay. Competition on hard is much more difficult because most of the good players were on this surface, while Nadal only had Djokovik on clay, where it was his weakest surface.

Glad for this miracle, but he was destroyed by Djokovic again sadly, in the semi's- credit for him playing on one leg though, and not ducking out- like fake Nadal injury, who's always been avoiding Djokovic on hc!
