"Tales of Mystery and Imagination
Edgar Allan Poe" (Narration Orson Welles)
For my own part, I have never had a thought
Which I could not set down in words
With even more distinctness that which I conceived it.
There is however a class of fancies of exquisite delicacy
Which are not thoughts and to which as yet
I have found it absolutely impossible to adapt to language.
These fancies arise in the soul,
Alas how rarely, only at epochs
Of most intense tranquillity
When the bodily and mental health are in perfection.
And those mere points of time
When the confines of the waking world
Blend with the world of dreams.
And so I captured this fancy
Where all that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

1976 & severe weather - I had just begun working in ER (a&e) & the charge nurse offered a ride home as motorcycle was my transportation. We listened to this in her car & I was so taken she invited to her place to turn me on to some more APP . We were together for 40 years of bliss so much thanks to Alan Parsons. The APP & Pink Floyd was pretty much the soundtrack of our life together.

The Alan Parsons project has always been a favorite with me. And it figures that with Dark Side Of The Moon where Alan Parsons was the engineer and mentor for the band The Floyd ended up being flavored with APP's sound...forever.

bought this in 1976 then met my first love on the train home - she said 'do you want to come to my place to listen to that?' - I was 16, she was 17. We were virgins. This song just took me back to that train ride. isnt it great how muzik does that.

Hey Rob. Similar situation for me in ‘76. Had just begun working in hospital ER (A&E ) & my only transport was my motorcycle. Raining & thunderstorms so the charge nurse offered me a ride home. On the way we were listening to this & I was so taken with it she invited me to her place to “further my education” . We were together ever since until I scattered her ashes in the sea. APP & Pink Floyd music was the soundtrack of our 40 years together. Thanks for your response that sparked these great memories !

Alan's silent partner is rarely/little spoken about, Eric Woolfson. He was a talent and its a travesty that he's not acknowledged. Unfortunately there's barely any footage of him but you can find a couple of videos of him playing APP's music on piano. Leads me to believe he must have been the brains behind the inception of the songs which Alan then engineered to add all the flashy bits.
@Succubus2Angel

Woolfson was an absolute genius and complete complimentary yin-Yang in APP. Without him, I highly doubt Parsons would have reached the heights it did. However, without Parsons, Woolfson would have languished just as he would have done. They were utterly in sync and to this day I adore what they achieved together :)

Poe is one of the few chosen ones who can decipher this reality and unravel another one with his words as keys. Welles was another one, the two together in the same song? they talk to us from a higher plane, and although we don't really get the full meaning, its wondrous to imagine it!
