Have had this Blue dial Alpina 4 on bracelet for over a year. Yes it wears big, it Is Big, but on 7.5 inch wrist it is fabulous!!

I purchased this watch about a month ago. It’s very good looking in person, and it does fit on the wrist smaller than the specs indicate. After about a year of research this is my first foray into the $1k+ watch realm, and I can honestly say the build quality is excellent. I moved away from more well known brands due to build quality issues compared to this brand. I am extremely happy with this purchase.

Recently got a start timer big date. It's a funny thing when you think you know good watches below 1000. Till you see the crazy finishing and sharpness of the bezel details. It's like going from 800x600 to 4k...... love it.

Lovely watch. 45mm is perfect for me. I was interested in the Seiko Alpinist but when I tried it on it looked a bit small on my 7.9" wrist. My favourite sized watch is the 44.5mm Orient Mako XL, so this would feel perfect I think.

One of the best designed and built watches around for any money with technical spec too. Don't be put off by the size. It's perfect on my 7" wrist. More considered than Tissot or Tag and you won't bump into another one easily.

Everyone on the internet keeps saying that it's terrible to have "all" watches being huge nowadays, but for some reason I struggle to find a decent looking 43-46mm bezeless watches anywhere, even divers are getting smaller, people with 8 inches or larger wrists need watches too, and 40mm is not big enough at all, even though I heard all the time that 40 serves all sizes, the new seiko 5 sport look great I went to test it and it looks like a women's watch on my 8 inch wrist, it sucks. Why can't companies just do a 39 and a 44mm of their bezeless, and 40 and 45 for bezel watches maybe 46 depending on the design

@@pedrothevenard completely agree. 44 ish mm with at least 50mm lug to lug is about the smallest watch I can wear without it looking like a kids toy on my. Pretty frustrating honestly.

In my 20s, I'd have already pulled the trigger. But knocking on 40 as I am, I've grown to appreciate a proper 40mm cases fit on my 7.45 inch wrist. I can't do it. I picked up the quartz blue dial on the bracelet Alpiner model on to get my feet wet with this brand.

Love my alpina 4 blue dial , got some nice NATO's to go with it, and a shark mesh. Quality piece with excellent finishing. Only the lume is mediocre. The curved lugs are so sweet, and the beveled polished edge that runs along the case.

I like that little bit of red on the sweeping hand. Just that little bit of color really sets the watch off IMO.

there is only 1 watch i regret selling and that was my alpina seastrong .. currently i own two alpinas , a star timer and a alpiner regulator and they are in my collection permanently. nothing in this price range is going to come close to the quality , feeel and look you will get from Alpina. Such an underated brand.

I just bought 2 Alpina watches, the Startiner Pilot Heritage GMT and the Seastrong Heritage for nearly 70% off the retail price, I must say the quality and the finishing is phenomenal. A underrated brand nowadays with a rich heritage.

I have this one in blue on leather and in black on stainless steel. They are two of my favorite watches. I don't have particularly large wrists, but this case seems to work well. However on the leather strap I am using the first hole.

I have a startimer and love it.. But the rotor is a bit noisy when compared to an ETA..

If you have a noisy rotor and have a warranty. Sent it to the service. I have a same problem. After update a new rotor this watch is impressive and silent.. 👍

After a few days of owning a Startimer, the rotor in mind seemed to quiet down. Either that or I’ve simply learned to filter it out. The movement may be highly regarded for being robust..... hasn’t been as accurate as my Hamiltons for example. This watch seems to consistently run +15-20 seconds a day.

Alpina does wintersports-vibe better than any other brand. Can't really point out what makes it that way because the design language isn't anything unique. Maybe it's the pointy hour markers and hands. Whatever it is, the designer who does these is a genious that managed to take a familier design and made it into their own signature. Remove the brand name and any watch enthusiast knows it's an Alpina. Like the Seamaster. It's a familiar dive design, but every sees it's an Omega. Same with Willard and the Tuna. The Submariner you can't really tell unless you look closely.

I know, even ten years ago I’d probably have it in 2 styles by now. 🤦🏻‍♂️ it’s amazing. But a hair from 40? 40-42 has become my comfort zone. I may pull the trigger (just to see) while it’s on sale. I kinda feel like that’s playing the “just the tip” game though, I know what’s gonna happen. Idk I’m very on the fence

I didn’t see it in 40 as an automatic but i really do hope they make (preferably the blue with tan strap in 40mm). That would really do the trick 🤞. Actually 41 or 2 might be better with the bezel (for me) but (yea). Right track anyway. I’d try it.

I've always liked Alpina but not enough to buy one. Same with Oris. But, Oris has been on fire lately and have brought in many new buyers. Wish Alpina would do the same. I would love to see Alpina come out with a few new watches to get my attention.

Quality is there, when looking at other watches in the price range it lacks nothing, other than a less known brand name. That being said most watches are overpriced, and that is why I love alpina and ball. This watch is built like a tank.

What? From Switzerland. Surely you cannot be serious. A) Swiss Watches are priced at demographics and B) the cost and standard of living in Switzerland is one of the highest in the world! If you want cheap, buy Chinese. I’m sure they’ll be tacky enough for you at the right price.

I don’t care cost or standard of living because everyone can do it. Even though it’s subjective but I tend to perceive it as a lower Swiss brand with no specific brand heritage and nothing more. You definitely cannot accept a bronze as a gold bar can you?? By the way if this watch was been made by the Chinese it will be only a fraction of the cost of what I quoted earlier. 😂 😂 😂

@@pkmcb300 This is a good buy no matter if you paid 1k or $800 ( I paid even less), the quality is there, my friend just bought a tag and the finishing is comparable. Alpina has been around a long time, has heritage and pioneered sport watches. These and Ball represent High value for the money. This punches well above it's price. Obviously you have never handled this watch, it certainly would not be $400 no matter who made it, quality is too high. It's the other way around if a more well known brand put their name on it the price would be inflated.

I once had a guy tell me that my Maserati was an “Asian” piece of junk and “if only I had bought a car with some design heritage”…(like his Buick) I wouldn’t need to have it serviced as often… I shit you not and then went on rambling about some car conspiracy. I tried to explain for a minute but to no avail. It was one of the funnier exchanges I’ve had with an arbitrary vagrant type. This made me laugh remembering it though! Anyway, cheers.
