21:14 That’s Stephen Fry! I didn’t realize he was in this. It’s been years since I’ve seen it. Another bit of trivia, Portia was played by Cynthia Cleese, daughter of John Cleese and Connie Booth.

I don't know if there's a connection, but Archibald Leach was Cary Grant's real name before he legally changed it. Grant was born in England. The film which may be relevant was "Talk of the Town" (1942) in which he played the role of Leopold Dilg. The film also stars Jean Arthur, Ronald Colman, Edgar Buchanan, and Rex Ingram. It's a legal comedy-drama, or at least centres on the law - practical versus strictly theoretical. One of my favourite films.

My sister lives in London, so everytime she visits the Fatherland (Finland; finally a member of NATO, yay!) she brings with her some authentic Twinings English Breakfast tea bags, which are those typical English style square ones without the string. The English use a special pair of tweezers so their tea bags never have a string attached. That is how you know, it is genuine English tea, robbed from a colony. God save the queen! At least, what is left of her.

Loved your reaction for a Fish Called Wanda. It's a pleasure to watch your KZfaq videos, you're so adorably cute. There's a screwball comedy from the 1970's called "What's Up, Doc" that I believe you'll enjoy. That and most Mel Brooks comedies, like Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety, Blazing Saddles, and Spaceballs.
@ElliotNesterman
@ElliotNesterman 3 жыл бұрын
Since you enjoyed "Blazing Saddles" which is a parody, and "A Fish Called Wanda" which is a straight up comedy, let me recommend two other Mel Brooks films. "Young Frankenstein"(1974) directed by Brooks and co-written by Brooks and Gene Wilder, is a parody of classic black and white monster/horror films, especially of the 1931 "Frankenstein" and its sequels. It stars Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn (Lily von Shtupp in Blazing Saddles), Teri Garr, Marty Feldman (whom I'm sure you know from many UK sketch comedy programs), and Cloris Leachman. "The Producers"(1967) was written and directed by Mel Brooks, and it won him the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. It stars the brillliant Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder (in his first leading role in a movie), and has a wonderful supporting cast, notably Ken Mars and Dick Shawn. Make sure to watch the 1967 original, not the film of Brooks's musical version. In 2001 Brooks adapted The Producers into a multiple Tony Award winning musical. It was nominated in eleven categories, and won in all of them. But the 2005 film adaptation of the musical is a poor shadow of the Broadway show. On the American Film Institute list of 100 greatest American comedies Blazing Saddles is #6, The Producers is #11, and Young Frankenstein is #13. BTW, #1 is the 1959 classic "Some Like It Hot." "Some Like It Hot" is considered to have one of the greatest comedy scripts ever written. Directed by the great Billy Wilder, it stars Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis (Jamie Leigh's dad), and Marilyn Monroe.

Two more movies that are very Monty Python-esque are "Time Bandits" and "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen". Both from the mind of (written and directed by) Terry Gilliam of Monty Python who is easily one of the most underrated directors in Hollywood. And both movies star many Python alums (Time Bandits more than Baron). Time Bandits is about the adventures of a little boy and time marauding little people. And Baron is an equally wild imaginative journey but about a little girl and a famed adventurer named Baron Munchausen. I promise you'll enjoy both and have never seen anything like them so please do reactions to each! p.s. - adorable daughter.

To see Kevin Kline in a great western, check out "Silverado" --John Cleese has a small role, too. And another, star-studded (morbid) comedy, "I Love You To Death."

They kept the same cast, and made another movie Fierce Creatures. Just as good as this on.

I saw it the last time just a couple of weeks ago, still several things I didn't recognize. Wonder how drunk I was. Anyway, for some reason A Fish Called Wanda have never really caught on with me. But that said, if you liked it and want another Feel Good movie of the same character (and with several of the same actors, e.g. Cleese, Palin and Curtis), Fierce Creatures ought to be your next one. I personally like that one better.

You really need to watch some Fawlty Towers. Best sitcom of all time, written by and starring John Cleese and Connie Booth.
