Hate to say it Adam, but the Singing Mountain Clan owes the Nightsisters nothing. They're not neighbors, they're enemies, and that's entirely on the Nightsisters.
@HeatRaver
@HeatRaver Ай бұрын
Exactly. The Nightsisters tried to assassinate Dooku, and this was the consequence of it. The Mountain Clan were already risking themselves taking in Morgan, and offering her start a new path, and she repaid them by getting some of them killed.

Even as powerful as the Mountain Matron might seem, the Mountain Clan wouldn't have changed the outcome of the battle. It's hard to tell when this is occurring in relation to Old Daka's death and Talzin's disappearing act, but since Grievous has his cape on and seems undamaged, I'm guessing this is a clean up action. Thus, the time to jump in and possibly change the tide is long gone.

To be fair, it isn’t clear from this episode that they were enemies. You can maybe piece it together simply from the fact that it’s clear by the end the Mountain Clan are lightside wielders, so there would likely have to at least have been tensions with the Nightsisters as Darkside Force wielders - but the episode doesn’t spell that out.

Agreed (and was super pumped to see them come back into canon! Now where are the rancors???). That said, I think the matron could have at least provided a little more grounds for reassurance. She doesn't need to reveal her secrets but I am also the kind of person who is never satisfied by 'it won't happen, it will be all right' without SOME reason to think so. She could at least say something vague like 'we have ancient protections'. Would Morgan have listened, probably not, given that she is more aggressive and also has reason to doubt how well those protections would work. It might have helped the others who had more reason to trust in their ways.

This episode is about the danger of giving power to fear. Morgan used the mountain clan's fear of discovery to lead them to take weapons they did not know how to use and be discovered and killed. If they had stayed with the Mother her magic may have been able to drive the separatists away or hide them from discovery entirely. At the very least they'd probably be able to mount a good defence in the mountain rather than going out to territory they're not familiar with to go on the attack. Forcing the Mountain Clan mother out forced her to attack and leave evidence of their existence. The separatists will now know there is still someone powerful on Dathomir which will lead them to double their efforts making it much more likely the mountain clan will be discovered. In manipulating their fear for her vengeance Morgan may well have doomed the Mountain Clan to the same fate as the Nightsisters. Giving power to fear will eventually lead to suffering.
@malachiphoniex8501

I wonder what ultimately happened to the Mountain Clan. From A marketing perspective, I doubt they would introduce a new faction on Dathomir just to have them be wiped out immediately after their introduction. I imagine we'll see the survivors again, whether in Ahsoka S2 or some other Mandoverse project.

I hate to say it, but I gotta disagree with Adam on this one. Morgan brought this on herself. If she would have just listened, and stayed in the mountains, the ship or drone or whatever wouldn't have seen her and wouldn't have gone after them. And honestly, even if the older woman had explained things to Morgan, do you think she would have listened or believed? I doubt it. When driven by all the wrong things, reason cannot take root.
@malachiphoniex8501
@malachiphoniex8501 Ай бұрын
Exactly. If the Mountain Matron had explained that she was powerful enough to keep them safe in the mountains, then Morgan would've pushed for them to use that power to go on the attack. While I can totally understand why Morgan would be seeking vengeance, it doesn't excuse her actions or the actions of the Nightsisters. The Nightsisters only look the victims because they're the losers of the conflict.

I am curious if the Mountain Clan (Singing Mountain from Legend continuity) are the same time of force witch as the Nightsisters. Like, are they also from Peridea? Is their type of magic wiped out? Or are they from a different planet there? Nightsisters aren't FULL on dark side in the new canon, but definitely more Necromancer/Enchanter as opposed to the Mountain Clan's abjuration? Like nightsisters can also teleport so...hmm

If we’re talking super powers, I could see Jay having Power Words. He could speak something into reality (Like Rumor, from Umbrella Academy. Or Black Bolt of The Inhumans) Usually Mage characters in Marvel & DC have Power Words. Jay could say “Enough” and E.M.P anything within earshot of his decadent voice. Adam could have some sort of mix of Bishop’s power, and Gambits. If he’s gonna run around with a variety of swords (which we all know he has), then he should be able to charge them up with the energy of Raw Vengence. I’m not sure what Bryan’s power would be, but it’s a good topic for Role For Convo in a Fix It episode. I would like to see you guys pitch an original super hero movie in Fix It. I know you’ve done Marvel & DC films before, but it would be cool to see you guys right your own franchise set in a world of Mutants and Meta Humans.

Totally with Adam here, but I think it's ok to view this episode the same as viewing the Jedi Council in the prequels - just because the narrative shows someone saying it, doesn't mean that's the "lesson" you should take from the story. When fighting against an oppressive force that just massacred your people, being told 'just ignore it an it'll go away' is a terrible thing to tell a child who just watched her family die. It's the classic Jedi "ignore bad feelings because they make you evil" thought process that leads to those suffering not getting the support and healing they need which leads to them trying to solve the problem themselves in the only way available to them - that usually ends in more violence. The Clan leader didn't need to explain her powers to Elsbeth, but she definitely should have provided a child with more reassurance and proof that they'd be safe in the mountains. And to then abandon that same child in her time of need? No wonder Elsbeth fell down the path she did - it wasn't because 'she gave into fear' it was because no one was there to support her and help her down another path that she could choose based on evidence and reason rather than blind obedience.

@@IndianaJake the show isn't about the Empire itself its about the effect the Empire has on those individuals who become part of it, either by "choice" like Morgan or by force like Barris. The Empire strong armed Morgan onto a darker path by manipulating her fear of being vulnerable + alone and her anger at an indifferent galaxy that only hates her for who she is. Whereas the injustice of the Empire leads Barris to find her way back to the light she had fallen from. She realises that the Empire is exactly what she felt the Jedi had become, an army for the dark side. Seeing that from the inside as an inquisitor makes her realise that she allowed herself to become what she stood against and helps her find a path back to what she wanted the Jedi to be.
