Comic Book artist Mark Evanier, Stan Sakai (who makes Usagi Yojimbo comics) and Tom Luth who is the colorist of the comics. Marvel comics used to publish Groo the Wanderer under the Epic Comics brand for artist owned comics. Before that Pacific Comics and Eclipse Comics published Groo the Wanderer. After Marvel Comics, Groo went to Image Comics for a year and for the longest time, Groo is published by Dark Horse Comics. Rufferto is Groo's Dog, Conan the Barbarian and Tarzan of the Apes have had crossover comics with Groo too.

Nice video! I think Groo deserves his own new chess piece character! Toss him in the middle of the board and players alternate controlling/manipulating him each turn if they desire. moves like a king, he's invincible, and kills anyone he touches!

I had a blast watching this wonderful video that combined two of my favorite things: Chess and Groo! Very kind of you to mention my name in the video, what a cool surprise. 😎 I think “Friends” and “Foes” is the right way to go about it. I like many of your choices for the pieces but I would definitely need Groo and Rufferto as pieces. I understand the struggle with Groo but I think having him as the white king would be appropriate. He has been a king after all. I also would need to work in Ahax, my favorite supporting character. Thanks for this fun video! Love how pulled out some comics as you discussed the characters.

It was a great idea Holden, I couldn’t help but make it into a video. 😀 Yeah, Rufferto needs to be in there, but, just like Groo… you can’t kill off the main character. I think that’s the same reason Groo isn’t a playable character in the Groo card game. 😉

Oh, a dragon as a rook would be awesome. And there should be a Groo piece. Either using cards with special Groo rules drawn each round, or allow a pawn reaching the other side to become a Groo with queen like powers.

Dark horse seven piece pvc set gives us everything except the pawns who could be piles of mulch or bowls of cheese dip. Groo and Rufferto as king Chakaal as queen Sage and Mulch as bishops Taranto as knights and Dakarba and Arba as rooks. Monochromatic set all pieces are black or white. Color set where each piece sits on a black or white base. Dark Horse could do this...... Thank you very mulch for the fun. Best wishes to all from the Timebrowser
