Today, we have the third installment of the "Finding the Best Watch Collection in NYC" series, and this one is sure full of some serious heavy hitters.
Today, we're heading into the city to check out the collection of a watch geek named Faisal! Faisal has a really killer collection, featuring the likes of Cartier and F.P. Journe (and, of course, some HEAT from The Crown themselves).
First, we check out a killer Royal Oak perpetual calendar with a crisp white dial. It is, if you can believe it, technically a dual metal watch, where all of the polished portions are platinum and the rest are steel. Next up, keeping up the platinum theme, we have the Cartier Tank Asymétrique released in 2020. It's a wild, funky expression of the Tank concept, harkening back to a model from 1936, and the red ruby on the crown helps set it apart as something truly special.
From there, we have a look at an F.P. Journe Octa Lune in a 40mm platinum case (it also comes in a 42mm case as well). Featuring a full rose gold movement and that heavy platinum case, the watch is a tank (pun intended?) but the attention to detail, especially on the dial, is absolutely next level. And then we have the Rolex classic - the Submariner reference 5513 with glossy dial. What else is there to say about this literal icon that hasn't been said ad nauseum? I can think of nothing. Speaking of Rolex, there is also a Daytona in Faisal's collection that comes on an Oysterflex bracelet, in a white metal with a steel dial. Another classic watch, this one a more modern classic, it's still impossible to beat when it comes to rich but sporty chronographs.
After a quick diversion into one of his wife's watches, we have the first Rolex to ever enter his collection, a classic ceramic Submariner with the 40mm Maxi case. Like the 5513 before it, there isn't much to say about this one aside from "legend." Speaking of legends, the final watch on our list today is the modern ceramic steel Pepsi GMT. Faisal prefers it as his ideal travel watch, and also to allow him to keep track of the time by his family and colleagues in California.
