We had a pond in our garden with a waterfall. Our Koi would swim to the edge as soon as anyone came near, waiting for food. They all had names. My grandchildren just loved them. It was magical. Enjoy and make memories.

Laura has to get a waterproof camera soon to see the antics of the fish underwater 😆 it would also be interesting to see how the pond looks from inside with the sun glowing through the lilypads must be magic 🌟 also do put a blackface elderberry at the back would be perfect esp in the spring with the blooms among the evergreens

When the Koi get bigger, they will love chunks of Watermelon. When we lived in PA we did a 15x25 pond with two waterfalls. Our Koi would come up to greet us as soon as we walked onto the deck and would talk to them. Love Koi kisses when hand feeding.

Brian having the boulders extend out further from the immediate pond throughout the berms really does make a difference to a cohesive design. The rock colors and textures are a gift to this garden as you plant around them. We’ve added a few smaller ones to our garden and they are a beast to move and place so the fact that you already have them is such a gift from this project. So beautiful.

The pond area is beautiful. I can imagine you being able to sit there in the fall on a chair with a blanket over your lap sipping cocoa. It will transport you for sure. The grass by the waterfall is perfect. It’s nice to see you moving plants. Sometimes I feel like I don’t like something but don’t move it to a better area then I think it’s just a plant I can move it, give it away, get a new one. It really is that easy. Enjoy the day

Welcome to pond life! We've had a succession of ponds over the last 34 years in 3 different houses. Not only are the ponds beautiful to see and hear, they bring so much life to the garden. Birds, squirrels, frogs, turtles and insects visit all day long. When the sun goes down, its a wildlife watering hole for racoons, possum, fox, rabbits and deer. Please add a motion activated camera to your pond so you can see who visits the pond. You won't believe it! Thank you for your great channel! A friend sent me a link during early 2020 and I have been watching ever since. It kept me going during lock down.

In Washington we have a native rose that I assume you all have down in Oregon as well. It’s called Wood’s Rose and it has a more open, natural growth than cultivated varieties. It would be a really cool option for your to get some roses with a native, natural appearance that would suit the vibe nicely. They’re a soft pink single bloom and have color most of the summer. Major pollinator magnet. I constantly see them in meadows and forests while hiking around the PNW.

Oh! I also just remembered- we have a native/wild bleeding heart that I think you would love! And it blooms all summer and doesn’t sort of fizzle out and disappear by august like the ones you typically see planted. I have several in my shade garden and they’re lovely. The proper name is Dicentra Eximia I believe. Those and the Wood’s Rose are definitely plants that can be purchased through nurseries but they just aren’t as common as the cultivated ones.

Wow, I am finally seeing your new pond. Didn't realize the pond would be so tremendous. Really like the waterfall, all the stones as borders, & different shaped boulders. Many beautiful plantings & especially like your blue spruce in the background and blond ambition is delightful & will certainly search for the delicate grass soon. Thank you, for sharing! So many more plantings to be done but looks like you have plenty of help. I know you do many yourself!

This amazing pond (extraordinary WATERSCAPE!) is a wondrous addition to your glorious property. Thank you for sharing 💕 I’m an avid gardener from tropical North Queensland, Australia… and although much of what you grow in your garden I cannot… I look forward to enjoying every new YT episode you upload. Blessings to you and your family x

I was hoping for more pond videos!!! thank you! Can you take us with when you do maintenance? I was wondering if you have to clean the pump like you do for a pool. These videos have been so fun! Thank you for taking us along for the excitement! So happy for you!!!

It is AWESOME! Such a beautiful area for your family to enjoy for years to come. I'm sure, with your expertise in plants, the surrounding gardens will make a beautiful entrance into the pond area. Looking forward to seeing the future videos as you plant all the beautiful plants in those gardens and to see all the plants grow and mark their spots around the pond. The whole area is breathtakingly beautiful.

The grass grows 3x3, but look at all of those seed heads…annually! Will that not cause a problem? Everything is so beautiful! I am so happy for you and your family

I have binged on all the pond building episodes, thanks for sharing with us. I love the undulation of the whole area, it adds so much character to a garden, not just the pond area but the whole surrounding and the way that you can fit plants into dips and curves, with rocks and trunks, it brings a garden to life.

Seems like I remember Laura saying they don’t have rocks because they weren’t native to the area, but boy have the rocks and pond made a statement there! Such a beautiful place to rest and relax. Like you said, an oasis!
