The Airbus A330 has been a staple aircraft of long-haul commercial air travel since Air Inter first flew it commercially in 1994. However, it has also proved to be a successful base for several further developments, used in other areas of aviation. For example, Airbus based its enormous Beluga XL freighter on the type, making its first flight in 2018. And, over the last decade, a variant of the type has also entered military service in various countries - the A330 MRTT.

The RCAF is replacing their five 1980's A310 with eight A330. The first two ex-Kuwaiti Airways MRTT conversions come online the end of 2023.

Well d'oh. It's a larger aircraft with large fuel tanks and more range to begin with.

The KC10 has even higher fuel offload capacity but they are being phased out of the USAF.

Better than Boeing 767 tanker/transport. Feel bad for US military that had to buy from Boeing and all the quality issues that comes with it.

The US military chose the A330 Tanker 2 or 3 times and each time were overruled by Boeing owned congress members. They were stuck with the 767 version they had rejected.

I love the A330 MRTT 200... except for the gray mat color (I would prefer it more... "metallic" shiny - old school) 😄😄😄😄😄

1:50. Not quite. The KC10 extender has the highest offload capacity of any tanker. However, these aircraft are being phased out of the USAF. Also the KC46 Pegasus and the KC10 have the capability to be refueled by another tanker giving them greater loiter time.

It is also possible to refuel A330 MRTT from other tanker aircraft. The receptacle is optional, so not all MRTT aircraft have it, but it shouldn't be too hard to retrofit if need be.

Nothing that compares. Even the US military didn't want the Boeing tankers, but were overruled by Boeing lobbyists in congress.

Airbus is investigating the NEO. They need to decide whether the costs are worth the additional orders - the wing is slightly different, among other things.
