I worked at DFW from 1974 through 1976 in terminal 2W (Braniff Terminal) and rode the train from employee parking to the terminal many days. Brings back memories.

Every time it rained they would basically stop running. They did have the best smell inside like dryer sheets on steroids.

Remember this well. It was an absolutely crappy tram system for an equally crappy and poorly planned airport. The story of DFW area.

Woah there buddy, DFW airport was excellently designed, many years later we still have room for multiple more terminals, and some are even being renovated 👍🏽

@@jaylenjackson2403 The vast majority of travelers disagree with you. DFW airport was always notoriously confusing, and absolutely inconvenient for connecting passengers for decades. There have been improvements but it still is fundamentally confusing, just like the DFW area is, in general.

@@adams8132 Ok well, I guess others have just had bad experiences with DFW and I can’t really argue with that, but - how is the DFW area confusing?

@@jaylenjackson2403 The freeway system has improved around the area but historically it has been confusing due its bad artery system around downtown Dallas and Fort Worth that has confused travelers for generations, that coupled with lack of geographical features like other cities have, have made the area confusing for visitors. But again, the freeway system around downtown Dallas is much better.

@@adams8132 All due respect, but if a place like DFW confuses you so much, there's a high probability you're simply easily-confusable or are a beginner traveler that is intimidated by the idea of navigating anything larger than a shopping mall. Roadwise, DFW has one of the most ingenious layouts; all left-turn loops off of a central north-south roadway, with the semi-circular terminals nicely aligned on either side, all consistent with each other, and very clearly labeled with copious signage. Terminal-wise, the train that the airport now uses goes upwards of 70 mph and circles the entirety of the airport in 9 minutes; despite being the 2nd busiest airport in the world and 4th largest, it is still incredibly easy to connect through. All of the gates are laid out in a very clear and consistent manner in each terminal, and the incredibly rapid security is unbeatable. I fly out of DFW at least twelve times a year and have never waited more than 5 minutes at the TSA line. If your only experience with DFW is an occasional connection, you're not going to know anything about this or how great it is to have as a home airport. From all my travels, I can say with certainty it is truly an incredible airport. Would love to hear what airport you think is the best in the US. 🙃
