You know what's funny? Robocop's dystopian vision of Detroit is a better place than modern Detroit.

I grew up around Detroit and it's like two different worlds. Around the Renaissance center it looks fine go away from that and you are in a middle eastern style warzone.

TV Tropes mentioned a quote from Conan O'Brian that used almost that exact same wording

Nicely done Chuck. I like the way that intro leads into your off-site review like that. Figured I'd have to wait a week to see the review, so clicking that link to see the actual review is like Xmas morning.

Robocop and Robocop 2 are my favorite films. No idea why, they just are. I'm a 63 year old Grandmother and I've seen them dozens of times. No interest in the 3rd one, no Peter Weller and didn't like the remake, they changed too much.

As a kid I never found it scary, because the stop-motion animation looked REALLY basic, although not as basic as the work on Robocain in the second movie.

There's plenty of Jesus quotes that square with "Dead or alive, you're coming with me!" like "Vengeance is mine! I shall repay!" or "I came to bring, not peace, but a sword!"

one of the funny things about this video is Chuck's consistent Metamfiezomaiophobia. (Yes, it's fear of mimes. Yes, I looked it up.... And no, I don't know how to say it yet.)

MPA were like "omg you killed Kenny !" and Orion was like "You bastards" as they given an X rating

Nice work, Chuck. And man, was that chain of events comical. Between your Rise and Fall of the Comic Empire and your other behind the scenes reviews, including this one, the business angles of media should outright be infuriating....but like the intended kind of violence here, goes far past facepalm-inducing and straight into hilarious. Though I'll admit I was a little disappointed that there was no mention for Verhoeven's inspiration for RoboCop's design: Space Sheriff Gavan, the first of the Metal Hero franchise (the sibling franchise to Power Rangers' source footage, Super Sentai), or rather, its French dub, which was airing in his hotel room during said vacation.
@SMAXZO8 жыл бұрын
+reyonXIII Huh..that explains why Robo's color scheme sorta resembles Gavan.

There were also boobs in the nightclub scene and they last about a half second longer than the locker room scene. I didnt even notive any boobs til I was a teenager. I watched the movie for the first time at 5 years old and watched it religiously since. Hands down my top film.
@theradgegadgie63524 жыл бұрын
This film still got an 18 certificate here in the UK and did well enough, as did The Terminator, originally. (Although it's since gone down to a 15.) I guess those are the equivalent of an NC-17 and an R.

For what it's worth, Mr. Debris. I don't mind your new video player at all.

"[..]you can call me Chuck, we're all friends here. And I'm fully aware that as a personal name, SF Debris sounds like the secret identity of a Silver Age DC Comics villain." :) from one of his review.

As a Texan (from the Dallas area, no less), I'm afraid that no, being in a heavy costume in 100° is not a legal form of execution. Death would be far to merciful, and it would kinda make A-kon a whole lot more awkward...

Welp, Robocop is now in Mortal Kombat 11. Now we can get the chance to see an X rated Robocop pushing violence to an extreme not seen in the films.

When I first saw this movie, I thought that when that satellite went off and killed those former presidents, it wasn't a malfunction, but someone in the current administration at the time assassinating them and saying "oops! the Satellite malfunctioned!".

Your example of the M16, wasn't very accurate, though I know what you meant. The Ford Pinto would be a better example. There is a video on youtube where he tests how many rounds can be fired through one on full auto before it fails. It was about 900, until the barrel broke.

The Cartoon Physicist's Noughtie List ok. How about you make your own video about Robocop and you can leave out any mention of Buckaroo Banzai if it gets your panties THAT much in a bunch.

I heard once that at least one of script writers was inspired by Japanese Henshin Hero series.. 8 Man to be exactly. It is series about.. guess! Cop who was turned in cyborg against own free will to fight with crime (made in 63 released in States in 65). It was quite influential series not only in Japan.
@SMAXZO8 жыл бұрын
+TheRezro And if I recall, Veerhoven was inspired a bit from Space Sheriff Gavan when he was away on vacation. A French dub of the show was airing in his hotel room at the time.
