Welcome to The Scale Modelling Cafe. This is going to be a slightly different style of presenting a project, that's because I'm doing a buddy build with Rick Lawler of the Propaganda channel. I've known Rick for a while and I thought it might be fun if we both built the same model. If you haven't seen Rick's channel, he is a died in the wall armour, Sci-fi and diorama modeller so he's definitely stepping out of his comfort zone with this, so I thought it only fair that I did too, in a small way, therefore I'll be putting mine on a simple base!
I chose a Malta theme for a couple of reasons. It will allow Rick to indulge in his diorama passion. It allows both of us to explore weathering techniques, and lastly Malta Spitfire camouflages are cool!
So join us as we both build a Malta Spitfire from Eduard.

I've got a soft spot for Malta as well, one of my colleagues at work is a Maltese! 😎👍🏻 One of these days I'll build one of the Swedish-Canadian Beurling's Spitfires....🤞🏻 Looking forward to see this lads! 🤜🏻🤛🏻🍻

My personal favorite Spitfire is the Mk.VIII in RAAF markings. A very close second is the Mk.Vc with dual 20mm cannons per wing in MTO color scheme. Looking forward to this collaboration project!

In Malta we do have a spitfire in our aviation museum just look it up

Hi Jamie I'm going to follow along with this build as I've had this kit in the stash for a while and recently read about the Spitfires and pilots serving in Malta. There's a blue scheme in the box and fancied doing one for a while until Airfix do their PR.XIX again. Also, don't know if you film your videos in order but there were no sound issues on this one at all compared with the competitions video. Will be following this build with interest.

Malta paint schemes are one of the biggest rabbit holes out there it seems. Best to make an educated guess, go for it, and dare someone to prove you wrong. Thanks for the book recommendations, the defense of Malta is very interesting to me. Looking forward to the build and what's to come in 2024! Happy new year!

Lots of great primary research by Paul Lucas in the Colour Conundrum series mate, he has all the available proof so if anyone says its wrong then I'll know they are wrong!

As you know Jamie, I'm very much looking forward to this. I'm just reading a new volume to me on Malta - Malta Strikes Back, the role of Malta in the Mediterranean theatre 1940-1942 by Ken Delve (ex Tornado nav). Interesting to see something on the offensive role with so much written on the defence of the island. A Malta Beaufighter would be another fantastic weathering opportunity.

I heard that they used any gray they could get hold of over there on the island l read even household grey paint.

There is a lot of conjecture and mis-interpretations however Paul Lucas in the Colour Conundrum articles has resolved the vast majority of the unknowns.

Looking forward to this, plenty of prospects for learning interesting stuff! BTW, the sound is good now, altough when you turn your head away from the mike, it goes a bit quieter, but is still audible enough.

I love the research part of model building, but it's always loads of "fun" trying to colour match from colourized WW2 pics lol. Especially when you find numerous pics of the same planes with different colour variations.

Hi. Jamie Haggo Your KZfaq channel videos are very nice. But basically, there are some problems. What you can't realize. Your video is not well-tagged. For that, you don't have the right viewers. And if you can solve this problem, your channel will get more views and subscribed watch time. Today, basically the front design of your video is better. A quality design will attract your viewer profit. Hope I have convinced you. I am waiting for your response. Thank you

Hi, thanks for the feedback. If you look back, a very many of the "front design" are very similar to this one. I do my best but I'm not a graphic designer but your comment proves that I am improving! Like, share and subscribe plus tell your friends, that will also help!
