First of all yes he's korean but born and raised in Australia! :D ok so MITO is the character he made who represents his dips. In this alternate universe, there's this god named mr. insanity (ian) and he created mito and he's the SERAPH in that world. In our world, Seraph is the highest rank in Christian angelology. However, Mito got greedy and was jealous of all the other creations, and felt he was the only one who deserved love. mr insanity saw that darkness and banished him, so MITO felt betrayed and resented everything that Mr. insanity was and vowed to infest his every creation. This world is Ian's mind dealing with bipolar disorder hence "moodswings in this order (mito 1) moodswings in to order (mito 2)" This is very personal to him. This is all of him. This is going to be a trilogy btw! 😁 Last but not the least, idk if you already know but he wrote, composed, screenwrote, directed and edited (including visual effects!!) all the things you've watched from him ! Truly a remarkable artist!

He actually said that MITO is going to be a trilogy, so yeah there are connections between them!! He inspires me creatively as well!😱 SO glad your back Caitin!!💓 OH, and another thing, Ian has bipolar disorder, and he depicts his other side with the character he named MITO (italian for myth) and the deep voice is always MITO talking.

Funfact: He was the main dancer in a group called C-Clown (I LOVED THEY SO MUCH) before join the DPR gang. He used to use his korean name in that time, but his name is Christian Yu and he is one of the first Aussies in kpop. He was just the MV director and helped the boys in some productions and MITO is a way to him speak about his mental health struggles and personal feelings in the most perfect way.

this man does not make art.. he IS art!!!!Honestly, he is one of the most complete artists that I've seen..as an artist, his creations convey not only emotions but also messages, he leaves a footprint on the world! The way he conveys the messages it's surreal, honestly..this album deserves to receive awards. What I love the most is the visual production linked to the musical, as everything connects, he uses the sound elements to convey the message without necessarily saying something

I cannot even begin to put into words how much I love this project. I love how it tells a story, and feels like a _whole_ when listening from start to finish. I am in love with the styling, the cinematic approach to exposéing the music in the MV’s, the absolutely phenomenal editing. It’s just so _exciting_ to watch and listen to. ^^ My favourite song so far is definitely Ribbon, the outro on it is heavenly. DPR REM really outdid himself on producing that beat wow.

This man is one of the last beacons of Real unapologetic Art in "Mainstream" Media these days.... because of his music and his Video background he can make every decision how he envisioned it..... both Album and all the Videos are truely beautiful Art in his highest form so much respect for him and so much gratitude towards the other DPR guys for creating a space where someone like this can exist in an industry ruled by coperate people who try to Form artists so they make the most amount of money.... (Not saying hes the only one) but i have never seen someone like him.... it really feel to me like what people talk how all these old composers like Mozart etc behaved.... it doesnt have this "oh now comes this now this" like we already have a blueprint of how everything should be.... it feels just unapologetic.... just him

If you do an album reaction I would recommend listening to his first album Moodswings In This Order and any mv from the album you didn't see (I think Welcome To The Show, Scaredy Cat). The mvs are supposed to be watched in a certain order, but I don't remember at this time. And he did a documentary vid talking through the songs in his first album which I highly recommend to watch to understand the story more and see some of the work behind the first album. Love they reaction 💜🌗 not a lot of people react to DPR so I'm always glad to see reactions.😄

I’m a little late to the party and pardon the novel but here’s the inside scoop from someone else with Bipolar Disorder regarding Ian’s work: Many people have pointed out that DPR Ian has been open about his Bipolar I diagnosis, which colors much/most of his work. When I first discovered his music (leading with So Beautiful) I was floored. I didn’t know anything about him but I saw myself so intimately in his work. I researched him and found out his Bipolar I diagnosis, and it all clicked. I felt seen in a way I never have before. Two years ago (finally! In my 30s) I was diagnosed with Bipolar II (so less of a “high” and not ever in a fun way) also rapid cycling like he is. His work is SPOT. ON. for my experience and I understand how it can be so difficult for a lot of people to parse. Being in one’s bipolar mind can be extremely disorienting, yanked from a high to a low at any time. The high manic phases aren’t all fun and games and are often highly destructive. Substance abuse, risk taking behavior, self destructive behavior in relationships, etc have repercussions just like the dark depressive side. Yes. It can be just as terrifying as he depicts, and I’ve never seen it displayed so accurately as he has. As someone in the arts myself, it is exhausting to get your heart and soul out into the world but I also feel “purged” of all of it somehow after I’ve gotten it out into the world. With Bipolar, some people hear voices, or just a more audible subconscious. When I’m not properly medicated, I feel more of an incomprehensible jabbering/static sensation when I’m in a more manic state. And yes, when you’re in tune with your body and used to how your cycles work, you can start to feel the “flip.” I think that’s what a lot of the whispers are telling him. He knows it’s coming, ready or not. He recently did an amazing interview on the Zach Sang Show that other people mentioned where he talks at great length about his struggles with mental illness and how it helps and hinders his creative process. He also talks about the extensive concepts he explores in his work and it’s definitely worth a listen. I am so grateful that he is able to be so articulate about the way he experiences his life. I’ve never heard someone famous talking about living with Bipolar with such candor and frankness. I hope you can find the time to watch the interview, as he was able to enlighten some people who just know about Bipolar Disorder by what they’ve seen in movies. Ian shows us that it’s possible to be a functional and brilliant member of society and not just a guy screaming on a roof that he’s Jesus or something. People with Bipolar Disorder are consistently linked with brilliant art. I think this is because they’re so deeply in touch with a wide variety of emotional experience and can somehow transfer that into their work. Through study, if not proper diagnosis because of the historical factors, it is assumed that Van Gogh, Ernest Hemingway, Virginia Woolf, Beethoven, Lord Byron and more had Bipolar Disorder, not to mention many famous current artists, musicians, and actors. So yeah. Thanks for getting to the end of this, and I hope this helped make more sense of this brilliant yet puzzling and disturbing masterpiece! Thank you so much for reacting it!

In IAN's first MITO album, the initials stood for Moodswings In This Order (Disorder), almost like an autobiography of his bipolar condition. Then MIITO's initials (where II stands for "too" or "two") stands for Moodswings In Too (into) Order. So there's signs of him using these albums to express who he is but also to figure himself out almost. categorizing emotions and the swings of his moods. Flipping the word Mood also gives you Doom which was where he made the choice to remove the voices yet ended up hurting himself regardless of them being there. The kidnapping and harm happening in the videos correlate with the wanted poster because MITO is wanted, but MITO is Ian. Even though he is bipolar, it's still all him. It's like he's trying to locate and kill the part of him that he identifies as a different person completely, but ends up just stabbing himself in the gut. Ian also pointed out he'd written and produced a lot of this album both in and out of bipolar episodes so the call and responses and the contrasting changes throughout the songs are majorly affected by that. happy to have you back Caitlin!

Basically the story that he is talking about in this trilogy explained by DPR IAN: There is a God (who is a clown) who decided to create archangels on his image, based on part of himself. Each one of them has the "mission" to spread a story and the first one to be created is MITO. But Mito was jalous that God created other beings, so he began to act out you know. So God banished him after seeing the bad in him and Mito was kicked out. He turned into a... dark emperor/demon king and he made the vow to corrupt/infect every god created beings' story so he can remain the main character in every story, songs, etc. So basically IAN is "corrupted" by Mito The evolution of the 3 album are in reverse. The first album (the black album) is Mito as we know him today, the second album (the red album) is his fall from "heaven" and the begining of the spread of his corruption. The third album (that will be white) might be about, how he was before getting kicked out. This is what I understood from a interview, and him talking about it. Be free to correct if you see an error. But I guess it's free for interpretation.

At the end, he is trying to open the miito box in the begining, I think Miito came out and traped the creator(the guy with the sparkly jacket from the beginning) into the box and took over the creator's body. Also I think that the hotel room that he went back into is actually inside of the creator or better yet inside of the creator's head as the wallpaper looks too similar to the jacket he is wearing in the beginning. Cheers( the wanted sign says Miito wanted dead or alive)

YES! You're totally noticing all the right things from the MVs. You're right about the voice changes, when he talks normally it's Ian but when it goes low it's Mito speaking. All the music videos are linked and create one big storyline (MIITO movie part 1 -> So Beautiful -> No Blueberries -> Welcome To The Show -> Nerves -> Scaredy Cat. I think MIITO movie part 1 is like an origin story for Mito). The story isn't necessarily about christianity but he does include a few biblical references in Seraph and 1 Shot and it features some kind of a higher power who created Mito into this world. I cannot wait for part two cause I'm way too invested in the story lol. He talked about the stories for every song in his stationhead live yesterday ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kJljhNR_yde1eoE.html ) and in Zach Sangs radioshow just a few minutes ago, I recommend you watch it, it was really interesting ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n7aBhNGiztfDpWQ.html ) :)
