5 жыл бұрын"Hi everyone, I have some news to share with all of you and it’s in keeping with my longtime policy of being open and transparent with our Jeopardy! fan base. I also wanted to prevent you from reading or hearing some overblown or inaccurate reports regarding my health. So, therefore, I wanted to be the one to pass along this information.
Now, just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working. And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease. Truth be told I have to! Because under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy! for three more years! So help me. Keep the faith and we’ll win. We’ll get it done. Thank you."

and that's a reason we all care for this man. in a world where it feels like everyone is going to lie to you, he always feels candid and honest. he also made me feel good for being smart as a child, so i definitely have to thank him for that. he could've stopped hosting jeopardy 20 years ago and we'd all feel the same way about him.

Corn Soup it was about 8 years ago, he was in San Francisco to host the National Geographic Bee, Woke up one night to hear a burglar going through his things in his hotel room, he confronted her and chased her down the hallway, tearing his Achilles tendon, he limped back to his room to call security, they caught her soon after. He showed up the next day for the Bee in a cast and on crutches.

We should've given the right kind of medication for Alex Trebek to consume; in order to beat pancreatic cancer I can't get over the fact, when I've once seen the former 1990s SNL (Saturday Night Live) cast member Will Ferrell, impersonate Alex Trebek. My father George D. Shelton; told me about one little boy impersonating Alex Trebek for Halloween 🎃, is what I'm also remembering. Here's what my father said about the little boy masquerading as Alex Trebek; "who are you suppose to be, I'm Alex Trebek." One adult neighbor; found it very peculiar, for a little boy to masquerade as the 'Jeopardy' TV game show host.

The man is pure class and grace. He may know he's dying, but right now, what he is doing now is Living. His first concern is that he be the one to tell his audience, softening the blow as much as possible. He understands that in terms of diseases being a fistfight, he just got thrown into the ring with a couple dozen angry 7 foot, 400lb types. If you're staring death in the face, especially when you know you'll likely lose the fight, might as well crack a joke before you come out swinging.

It's a combination of diseases, old age, natural causes, drug addictions, murders and suicides. The year had nothing to do with it, that's just how life is because humans don't last forever. My dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 10 years ago. It never went away, but doctors are able to keep it from growing. It’s been a long journey but he is still happy and healthy today, despite the cancer. I really, truly wish him luck. There is hope.

Having a strong fighting spirit is 75% of the battle. Medicine, dr's, treatment, etc all that stuff is important too. "Fighting cancer" is cliche but I believe there really is something to it. I've been fighting esophageal cancer myself for 3 years now.

When Alex announced his cancer diagnosis. It was a few short weeks until my second mom to me was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. I primarily looked up to Alex as an outlet to help me through the pain of realizing that my second mom to me was in her cancer battle. Unfortunately my second mom made it to her 78th birthday and unfortunately passed away 6 days later. Almost 4 years later i still miss my second mom to me. Thank you for everything Alex for being an outlet to help me through the pain of my second mom's cancer diagnosis. We miss you very much.

My grandmother died of pancreatic cancer, years before that my mother had it and they gave her 6 months to live. She lived for 17 more years and when she passed it wasn’t due to that. Miracles happen everyday. I’ll be praying.
