This is the HiStar/Hisada Aurora Air, a 115g BFS reel that I am crowning as the new King of this Price point. This is a Chinese/CDM BFS (Bait Finesse System, Ultralight Baitcaster Fishing) orientated reel from aliexpress that is for casting light lures. This reel would be perfect for targeting species like Trout, Perch, Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Bluegill, Bream and many more.

Hopefully it helps someone. I had a cast in the yard and it was good. Only casted my most common lure which is about 3g. Will try 1g tomorrow

Jacob I always take 2 set ups when I go fishing. Lol just got back at dark. And 1 of my set ups was the Aurora air. I love mine that's why when the price dropped I bought a 2nd

Absolutely love my Histar. It casts very well. I am casting a 2 gram lure about 37 mts and a 4 grm about 50 mts Still day two with this reel. My star drag if just fine and my line lay is also good . Maybe i was lucky. I did clean out the bearings as they had heaps of grease on them

Good to hear you're enjoying it. The person I mentioned in the video has 2 and they had different washer configurations from each other under the drag star. I guess yours was good as it was and I got a lazy guy on the assembly line that day!

Foist!!! I think this reel definitely has the potential to be the new budget king with a few potential caveats. Namely the issues with quality control… the worm shaft being improperly shimmed isn’t that amazing and a few other minor gripes. Anywho, great video as always! Cheers Jacob!

To me the line guide also seems a tad on the loose side, but then again I'll accept that for its current price!

@@yep.fishing hey Jacob! Actually the line guide being loose isn’t much of an issue. You’ll see much higher end reels with loose line guides like the Aldebaran. So… I think it’s a bit of a non issue. Cheers my friend!

Could actually be a benefit in a way. When the line peels off it can have a bit of play in it to reduce resistance. That's atleast how I would market it 😂

You don't happen to have a link to the knobs as well, do you? I was going to purchase the Creek Dance during the next sale, and those look great together!! I ordered the Aurora during the last sale for $28, so this video came at a good time. I'm going to do your drag star fix as soon as I take it out of the box!

Nice looking reel for the money. Frustrating that you have to have to take it apart and reconfigure washers, etc, to get optimal drag function. That could be a problem for those intent on using it straight out of the box or for people who don't have the knowledge or the confidence in disassembling a casting reel. Great review. Now get out and catch some fish. Let's see how it holds up 😉

@@yep.fishing I dont know if it's that or just poorly designed parts. I have fished it for some time now and the thumb bar fell off. I superglue gelled it and it seems okay now. It casts good but is geary feeling and makes weird noises while fishing. I do like how small and light it is. I'll fish it till it dies and then buy something new. 😂😂

Yea it's definitely not the smoothest and the black parts seem on the cheap side. But at the new price i can't complain.

I think I’m going to pull the trigger on this bfs stuff soon when I get some $$. Don’t wanna wreck it in salt though, it’ll be freshwater exclusive. This reel looks great.

This reel should be pretty salt safe. It's got some corrosion resistant grease on the bearings and just plastic bushings in the handle knobs so it's more salt water friendly that the average BFS reel.

Why are dark wolf ultra? Purely for the looks? The reel is identical to many other reels but the price hasn't come don't on them like the others. Soloking Acura, bearking Zeus, kingdom micro monster and histar black knight 2 are all the same body. If you want to save some money and get a TSU because you like to match the brands you could get the spirit fox.

If you want to use it more in saltwater you should tear it down straight out of the box. Put light layer of grease on everything that doesn't. Don't forget the clutch lever rail guides. Bearings don't need grease except for the bearing underneath the driveshaft. Level wind also gets oil. I like corrosion x oil and cals grease. Always rinse with freshwater on a tight drag and dry off after using it.

Seems like a bargain. If it casts well then its an absolute winner because its a nice look reel. Plain silver reels dont look that great to my eye.

4lb test should be fine, it's when it comes to I would say 6pb braid or lower. Mono and fluro lines are obviously much thicker so you should be fine with 4lb mono

Every BSF reel I have will let 6 lb mono or fluoro through the gap and around the spool shaft and I have some of the budget BFS "classics"

you must run your spool tension very loose. I've only had the issue on 6lb braid

Fast rod, Mavllos Ultima comes in 168 and 180. Very good sensitivity and fast, plenty of backbone.

If you are asking if this reel is right handed only, no it comes in left and right hand versions and do probably 19/20 reels.

Yes if you want to reel with left hand then you need the left hand version. I cast with my left hand and reel with right so I need the right version. AliExpress is safe especially if you buy from the choice store which is the same as Amazon prime basically, where AliExpress stores all the products in a warehouse rather than the products being sent by individual sellers.
