This is the opening to mine and my friends fantasy novel that we're writing. - Here I stand, looking around at each of my opponents, watching for their weaknesses, to see who I’ll kill first. The weakest link always falls first, and I intend to be the one to make the first kill. I intend to be the one that becomes the Queen, to win the conclave at all cost. I intend to descend to the next and final test. The sound of Alek, the King of all Dark beings, echoes throughout the battlefield, bouncing off the tall stone walls. His voice deep and demanding, giving us a countdown, my eyes landing on my target. A younger girl, maybe a few years younger than me standing to my left several feet away. Her stance is off, shoulders slouched, she stares at the ground as if she’s accepting her fate before it even starts. Like she has lost all hope. Once Alek reaches one, I jump off the platform, my whole arm lighting with fire, the flames licking at my skin causing a tingling sensation. My feet glide over the ground as I run towards the girl who's still standing on the platform, not even trying to defend herself. Once I reach her, the heat coming off my arm could melt any living soul. I plug my fist into her face, no mercy, watching as she flies back, flames engulfing her body, she screams in pain and fear. Only the strongest will remain, and I am the strongest. The smell of burning flesh reeks, marking the walls with death. These people used to be my peers, my friends... Now it's a test to see if I can overcome my feelings. To see if I'm strong enough to help bring down the evil that is trying to overtake my kingdom, my home. As the girl finally dies, allowing the flames to eat her body, I look around, watching all the beings of fire battle each other to be the most powerful... What they don't realize is I've put everything I have into this and I don't give up easily. A sinister smirk dances across my lips. I slowly raise my arms out in front of me. Letting the flames burn in me. My skin tingles and I feel my feet leave the ground. Fire bursts from my fingertips, up my shoulders, and down my back. My hair floats straight up setting a blaze. The flames explode across the battlefield in a sea of fire taking out each of my foes. They were not fit to be a leader... Fire can not kill a being of ignicolist, unless it's hellfire. Geralt stumbled back, dodging and ducking out of the way of her blade, desperately trying not to fight back, or raise his sword against her. But, he was forced to use his sword to block her quicker and quicker moves. Blocking one of them, he backhanded her across the face and used her surprise to shove her back against a wall. “They created me, just as they created you.” She growled at him, straining against him. “We’re not so different.” She told him, using his distraction, to pull a small dagger and stab him in the side. Then, they were back at it again, blocking and swinging at each other. Geralt caught her off guard and drove his blade down onto her shoulder, forcing Renfri to her knee. But, she spun around, knocking his blade away and using the dagger to slice into the top of his thigh, and resumed the back and forth with him. Geralt stopped her dagger from catching him again, with his bare hand, and smiled smugly at her, before she yanked it back, cutting his hand open. They moved across the market before he was able to disarm her of her sword. But, it still didn’t stop her, she lashed out at him with her dagger, which Geralt barely caught, and pressed her own dagger to her throat. He looked at her, their eyes holding each other’s, just like the night before, but both of them knew, if Geralt didn’t stop her, she would never stop. So, he used her own dagger, cutting her neck and watched her bleed out, cradling her against his chest. The witcher🐺🕊💫

Everything around me is destroyed. The wood of the benches, the asphalt of the streets, the roofs of the houses slowly die in the flames. People are crying out in pain, I see them shouting, but silence seems to reign. All is silent in the destruction that the last clash caused. Too many corpses cover what remains of the streets: some cry on them, others shake them desperately in the hope of giving them back their lives and others, not finding the strength to do anything, lie motionless next to them, confused with the dead. I suddenly notice that many people don’t do any of this, but their eyes are turned towards me in a look so cold and disturbing that I feel my knees fail me. Why are they looking at me like this? I’m starting to have trouble breathing. Everywhere I turn, there is someone looking at me, giving me the impression of being a beast tense to the point of attacking, but hesitant. Something, in fact, seems to stop them and evidently is stopping me too, because I remain petrified to observe this city that is collapsing. A hand suddenly grabs my arm and pulls me behind a shack. I never thought I’d say this, but luckily it’s Dimitri, my brother. "Ophelia it’s time to go, we have to leave town now" He grips my arm. "What are you saying Dimitri, I’m not going anywhere, you’re the prince, you swore to protect this city with your blood." I try to wriggle from him unnecessarily. "Too much blood has already been spilled, look around, what’s left? This is not the time to play Ophelia heroes, people are just waiting to see the whole royal family die like their loved ones did, we fomented the fight, we encouraged them, and now we’re on the clock." "I’d rather die here than run away"
