I would think that in a good rain the sand will just erode into the pond. Floating docks were common here, on canals and rock pits. Usually the shore connection was utility poles sunk 5 feet into the ground. Chains were commonly used for connectiions, never saw those galvanized quick couplers before.

There is some of that, but really it's minimal. After it gets wet, that mason sand packs hard. We also don't have a ton of slope into the pond. Not mad if it does though. I have sand in the water. I purposely didn't put a ton in there in anticipation of erosion down. Those hinges are really pretty awesome. Makes it so easy for one person.
