Here’s a quick clip showcasing a florid bit of dodging around Omega’s attack pattern. I briefly worked on this while practicing for my Buster only 100 point run; there, I noted that the fight against Omega lends itself well to a variety of approaches that range in difficulty. His relatively languorous pace in Z3 allows players to devise ornate methods of evading his moves, this is one such example. Jumping over Messenkou, threading Zero between Arc Blade’s projectiles and making tight jumps around Omega’s X2 combo are just part of a list of precise maneuvers that give off an air of flashiness that you don’t normally get; even using combos to shred him doesn’t quite reach the same level of style.
This particular sequence is choreographed by using excruciatingly specific pattern manipulation, allowing me to devise a visually satisfying routine that would otherwise require immense fortune alongside brutally demanding precision. I did practice pure improv so I can say with confidence that performing this style of dodging against Omega is possible with raw reaction alone. Sure, it requires unparalleled concentration and reflexes along with a good chunk of luck, especially as it pertains to the falling rocks, but it can be done. I intend to expand upon this proof of concept in the future by completing the whole fight in a similarly showy fashion but I figured that even this shorter clip might be of interest to some, both from a pure entertainment perspective and also in providing some “behind the scenes” insight into my practice routines.
I hope you enjoyed this little waltz! If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them.
